This happens every few years… I’ve been tapped into the fan perspective of rap since 2016… every few years people say “there’s too many rappers” …. “everyone sound the same” …. “no real music” …. It’s just the market shifting …. What’s going on is we’re just missing a generational artist… we’re in the between stages of a “New Wave” … Once some new artists with a new sound/flow/perspective come in everything will be cool for a couple years… then we’ll be back here again…
@@slattslattslatt Mf that has it all. Can rap & sing. Dabble into many genres. Can rap with substance but also can rap without any purpose. Person that can put great albums out. Person that can make instant hits. Person that is good on fts...
@@slattslattslatt A generational rap artist refers to a rapper who has had a significant impact on the hip-hop genre and has managed to capture the attention and admiration of a specific generation or era. These artists often become synonymous with the musical trends and cultural movements of their time, and their work resonates deeply with the experiences, attitudes, and values of their generation. They often become iconic figures and role models for aspiring artists and fans alike. These artists can embody the spirit and voice of their generation, addressing social issues, expressing personal struggles, and reflecting the overall cultural zeitgeist through their music. Moreover, generational rap artists often have a lasting impact on the rap industry, influencing the sound, style, and direction of future artists. Their music becomes a defining element of the era in which they rise to prominence, leaving a legacy that extends beyond their own career.
polarizing and iconic artists like xxxtentacion and carti can completely switch up their sound and keep their respect. Most people can't do that because they don't have the fanbase/brand/influence to make such a big change.
I think the main core issue is that the music scene is very commodified. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of artists that make music bc they have a bigger vision for their career and goals and love music. There seems to be a bunch of artists nowadays that just make music bc they wanna be like x or carti or they want to live that lifestyle. You can tell Carti has a way bigger view on his career than just dropping music and making money. And that’s why he has real fans, same as Tyler the creator. Guys like Summrs, Lil Durk, etc seem to just care about making money and they have no artistry. Also these guys are so young in their musical development and getting exposure so early seems to kinda take down their creativity.
It’s crazy how uzi can have the most hype rn and he still gets dragged y’all scared to respect that man because it wouldn’t be fair for your favorite artist 😂
facts my friend do the same shit, he a heavy YB dick eater, and he be trynna say nobody listen to carti or uzi and said yb get more likes than them on ig, he went to carti page and seen he get 2m likes also and then try to make uo some wack excuses like “oh carti got them likes over time he posted in 2020, yb get 2m likes in 3 hrs” i didnt even argue with him im like dude just give thrm credit lol
Hip hop is never dying , fashion , lifestyle literally everything that people fw nowadays is hiphop culture basically. the barrier to entry being so low its only a good thing we dont want untalanted industry pushed bums to succeed just cuz they got rich parents or people behind them
nah, i just think it's cool to hate, in 3 years everybody gon be listening to lone and ken and call the "mid" projects of them classics and amazing and how great the times were when these guys were underground. Yeah, music is really fast food nowdays and yeah many projects which are really anticipated end up ot living up to the expectations but still, rap right now is definitely in the 2-3 most popular music gendres, massive hits are being released daily and in general it has taken over the world. Hype for rappers definitely not dying, it's just that people want that new shit, y'all remember how everything litterally was reborn after WLR? Everything just completely changed, it's been like 3 years everyone, every single rapper whcih came out after wlr release, had some punk/rock/rage elements in their music. Now, this is going to happen again with utopia, pink tape and whenever carti decides to drop. Also it's the audience's fault as well because nowdays there is zero patience, people want everything immediately, everyobody excepts everyone to sound like the best rapper in the world, everybody complains and there's a lot of bad energy about anything new. Ilck was boring, X was mid, Go+ was aight, if you love any of these projects people gon say you meat ride opium or something. People just gotta give time to music, i bet money ilck is gonna be one of the best chill rap albums ever released in 5 years, now they'll say i meatride, no when y'all were hatin on yatchy, carti, uzi it was cool cause they were new and now y'all feel nostalgic and say back then times were good and music was fun. What? You're tellin me music not fan now? People at lives are more hype than they were in 2016 with yatchy and carti. Only X had actually insase crowds and he died, r.i.p to him, but X now is known by every single person in the world and considered a legend. Even X back then used to get hated a lot, eternal atake also wasnt instantly loved but now everyone loves it, generally many many projects took time to get love from the audience.
i feel like people aren’t coming up anymore tho, obviously there’s a few but back in 2017/18 everyone seemed to be growing constantly and it was exciting where as now people don’t seem to be on the up, everyone is already either big or falling off. When we think about artists dropping soon we don’t think about them doing better which is demotivating, we expect them to do the same as a recent album or worse and for me no albums this year have exceeded expectations so it’s hard to get excited. Like for travis and uzi i expected albums as good as astroworld and eternal atake so uzi levelled it for me then trav will do the same they won’t surpass expectations
Twenty-seven songs is way too much for an album especially one from the likes of Lil Uzi. What makes your think Uzi has enough content to keep you interested for twenty songs let alone damn near thirty?
@@matthutton3282 WAIT. I know that 27 songs is too much, but there are rumors that the pink tape is split into two parts. not sure if that indicates different style of sound or whatnot, but i think that will help with the listenability of PT. again, this is a rumor
@@jadenrobinson1561 Juice was timeless he had enough good music to still be dropping fire projects by 2030, meanwhile carti and uzi and travis take years to drop and we wait 2 years from trippie just to get Midsion Music. I think Allty5 is dropping this year too though so. But you know what I mean? juice coulda been making even MORE music for the past 3 years and even the rest of his unreleased has hits in it. Ion think u understand the difference between the original soundcloud gen and the new one. We only got a select few iconic people from each gen. All the people I named earlier are most of the first gen. The second would be people like, Yeat, Sofaygo, Summrs, Destroy Lonely, etc. They're the ones doing any type of numbers and they're the ones making the most consistently good music (maybe not lone as of recently, but 2022 and before he was. ILCK didn't impress me as much as I wanted it to) I could name other people obviously, But I don't think they're even worth mentioning in comparison to the first soundcloud generation because they haven't had even close to the same impact they have. Ig if we're talking 2021 it would be tana and slump6s too. But currently, its not a lot of new artists who are as impactful as X, Juice Wrld, Uzi, Carti, Travis, and Trippie. (I am biased)
y’all no rap isn’t dying or the hype , y’all haven’t paid attention to the cycles hiphop makes , y’all forgot that when x n trippie n Denzel ski uzi carti blew up the underground went quiet for like a year or 2 then boom slayworld , yeat , ssgkobe, etc, we are witnessing history repeat yall just haven’t noticed yet , guarantee all of these videos overreacting cuz they don’t have artist to rant about will go full circle again , what goes around comes around
@@myronn6396 we’ve always had real rap and stages where its mainly hiphop, im telling you we haven’t seen anything different happened it’s always gonna be ass - god tier rappers , even tpain said it
11:00 the point you were confused about here? Rich Amiri. no hate, but he’s exactly the type of artists he’s referring to. he’s admitted to getting up from playing his own music. kinda feel like the label thought that was smart and ate playing on it in a smart way
i disagree with the point about getting obsessed with one upcoming project cus people drop every week, if anything if makes me want things like cartis album more because so much shit is dropping, if the music was actually decent and a lot dropped i’d want it less but when there’s a lot dropping and none of it hits it makes u think i just want this person to drop so i like something new
Rap genere is so saturated right now it’s not even funny. Literally everyone is a rapper/producer these days. It’s taken all the value so nobody seems special anymore
See that’s another issue y’all say the music sounds the same “Speaking On YB” but Richest Opp has song on their that don’t sound anything alike. Even as a YB fan. And I agree his drops should be way shorter if he releasing consistently and it has been way too much filler. Saying the music sound the same is a stretch It’s plenty of other Artist that switch it up and people say oh they sound the same when they actually do some different. Clearly the music isn’t for you so move onto something else if that’s the case
It’s not it’s just labels aren’t giving out crazy deals like they was in 2016. Rap game is independent now. You choose who u support it’s just most mfs dnt want to bring up underground artists. carti uzi xxx etc all got deals and huge investments .
labels a&rs aren’t talking risks or anymore with this genre. they are just doubling down on what they alr got and making them as big as possible. (Streams etc) . There’s plenty Of underground artists who if u give em a 1m advanced they’d do something. Ppl forget carti uzi signed for 1m+ really early In their careers so ofc they gon get big quick. Another reason is ppl like bobbalam only Care about numbers and monthly Listeners and not Potential
Respectfully hip hop/rap is dying cause people like you and your audience is hyping up these new gen rappers then when they drop the casual listener checks out what the hype is about and then the projects/songs are completely trash 😭🤷🏾♂️
