It looks like "kanji", so you were technically correct. Those characters do come from Chinese. The Japanese adopted them and are using them alongside their own characters called hiragana and katakana. I have studied Japanese for a good few years of my life.
So happy to see your product comps, demos and swatches!! Everything looks gorgeous on you and the eye palette is a stunner. The brushes are beautiful too. Thank you so much Lexi!!
What a great job you did with those powders! Thank you for taking the time. I have that Chantecaille compact (beautiful) and was pleased you included it. Powders are necessary but can be really aging, so your comparisons were very helpful. If I need another blurring powder, you have really helped me narrow the search. Also, I am a packaging junkie, so that Precious Lipstick caught my eye. But these don't seem worth the major investment. Thanks for helping me get over FOMO. I really wish Cle de Peau made this formula in a lip balm. With the moisturizing/healing benefits, I could use it. In fact I'd love to have a balm to use Under lipstick. I love Sonia G brushes and have a lot. Looks like a beautiful launch. Thanks for the video!💚
Hi Lexi, boy what effort you put into this video reviewing a plethora of amazing products which btw look gorgeous on you! I love the RMK asia exclusive palette... it's so pretty and it's exciting like the Addiction products... can't wait for that next video. Those luxe cdp lipsticks are perfect on you! So happy the colours work given the investment. Love the Sonia G brushes and the Addiction singles... they're gorgeous! Thank you so much for investing so much time and effort for us. 🥰❤️💫✨🪄
The Bobbi Brown blushes are beautiful. I think my favorite is the Pink Desert shade, although all three shades are lovely. The Cle de Peau lipsticks are gorgeous, and I love that they’re hydrating. Both colors look great on you, but I agree that the Refining Amethyst is exceptional. I wish they weren’t so pricey.
Thank you for reviewing CDP lippies, they look great on you. I hope they’ll extend the shade range in future. I’m thinking of getting one of the red shades
Hi Lexi ! Thank you so much for this extra content-heavy video! Congrats on being gifted the new Sonia G Traditions brush set - it’s such an endorsement of your Fude knowledge. The star of the show for me is the RMK palette. Such beautiful shades - and the textures look so smooth - that one is in my cart! My wallet is glad there is no nude among the new CdP (Uber-luxe) lipsticks. You did an amazing job at describing and showing the differences between the new CdP, Burberry, Sisley and Chantecaille powders - I will be referring back to this video next time I need to purchase pressed powder. Thank you for another fantastic video. Have a great day!
Hi Lexi! I’m not a fan of heavy shimmer eyeshadows - I prefer the more subtle Cle’ de Peau shadows. Age related choice, I’m sure 😊. Just tried the CdP pressed powder and loved it - I use a brush too. I have tried the Sisley, Chanel and multiple Chantecaille setting powders - but prefer the CdP. Especially good under the eyes. I know it’s pricey. I’ve never tried Burberry cosmetics. I have two Precious CdP lipsticks and both are lovely - my favorite is pink. I do think it is very moisturizing and I have super dry lips. I’m able to use the CdP lipliner in Pink all over the lips - apply the lipstick on top - and it doesn’t dry me out. But lasting through meals? I don’t even try that. Thanks for such thorough swatches and choices.
Another terrific video. Thanks Lexi. I ordered T1 & T6 brushes. They will be here tomorrow. The T3 has now been added to my wish list after watching you use it. I am pleased I already have a large sellection of Sonia G brushes, because the conversion rate of the Australian dollar is out of hand now. I sometimes think I may as well double the USA price of my orders from Beautylish. Loved your eyeshadow look.
Hi Lexi... Cle de Peau lipsticks are really nice and the case is very fancy. With Sonia G. brushes you can never go wrong. 🥰 I am picking up couple from this collection too. Thank you for detailed comparison, of the brushes.
I love your brush content! I ended up picking out 4 from the set. I knew I was getting the t5 because of the uniqueness. I figured t6would be a little big for my eye, and I was right, but I thought it showed the persimmon so beautifully. I loved watching you use the RMK palette. I picked it up over the holiday but haven’t played with it much past smearing it all over my hands and arms. Thanks for the inspo!
Hi Lexi, I know how to work the CDP powder now. I used the Chantecaille buff and blur brush and just buff it into my skin. It’s a successful try!! I seem to have more luck with all the pressed powder when I used the buff and blur brush.
@@LexiJong I also ordered the Sonia G buffer pro and the Sonia G Sheer Buffer on their gift card event. I think the buffer brushes work better on me for the powder, better than the MK_SK for example.
Very thorough reviews, as always! I’m so tempted by the cle de peau lipstick, but since they are permanent, I hope I can catch them on sale. I really love both types of earrings you’re wearing and am kinda obsessed with the one that looks like a starburst sitting in a crescent moon.
I have an unopened CDP powder in the older formula. It used to be my HG, but it's been replaced by Chantecaille's HD Perfecting Powder. Thanks for the reminder to open the CDP up and use it. CDP went full-on Lord of the Rings with their new Precious L/S...🤣
@deniseburnham7783 do you have the old packaging in normal or LX - I’m so bummed about the the new packaging bc it looks so bulky and boring compared to the older metal LX -which was so expensive but I was saving up to have a real luxury face compact one day with a refillable powder I love - it now it’s gone 😢 - I don’t care for the new packaging at all - but maybe the formula is better? I never got to have the old one - nice they do all there refillable expensive packaging then change it all around so you can’t refill it 😮
@@vwiccy - Both. I liked the streamlined packaging, too. I only have so much room in my "top shelf" drawer. Honestly, if a product is not in that drawer, it's now in the land of lost cosmetics never to be seen again. I'm curious if the new powder refill will fit the standard-sized older compact.
Yes it will. I have an old limited edition with the Great Gastby lady on case. I chatted with CDP and they said yes, they will fit. I purchased the new refill. It fits perfect ❤😊
Hi Lexi, the CDP powder is absolutely amazing and beautiful. I love it the best so far, more than the other powders I have. My question for you : is the WA powder in pink as nice? Is the WA powder in pink works better for the under eye area? Thanks
Thank you for another wonderful review. In regards to the spring suqqu moisture lipsticks, are they more moisturizing or the CDP? Which one do you prefer?
I feel like the CdP are more moisturizing in the sense that they feel like you are just swiping your lips with hydration but there really isn't anything sealing it in. The Suqqu are maybe not quite as hydrating feeling but they have a bit more of a barrier so the feeling lasts a bit longer. In my head, it's like the CdP is pouring water on something (like a potted plant) but the Suqqu is like pouring less water on it but adding plastic wrap to the top to prevent hydration. I hope that helps but it might only make sense to me, lol. I really like both but I think the suqqu is the one I will use more. Aside from having a broader color range, it isn't quite as soft and I think the CdP will feel a little too "melty" during the hot summers. For the rest of the year though, they are pretty evenly tied in my book.
Hi Lexi oh those Cle de peau lipsticks are gorgeous. I think the darker one, would be even more beautiful. I was looking maybe Scarlet one, but not sure if it’s warm enough? Which one of those more darker ones you think would be more warm tone? Thank you Lexi and have a blessed day❤️🙏
I really want number 6 which I think will be pretty neutral but 1, tender red emerald, looks like it will be warm. You might be able to find them in person now at your local department store.
Hello Lexi! I’m a fan of Sonia G brushes. I actually like the brushes made for lining, although I’m really on the hunt for angled liner brush for precision lining, made for or good for cream liners. I’ve got one from Hourglass, Kevyn Aucoin, and Chikuhodo. I do wish Sonia G will create one too. Thanks for a very detailed comparison of brushes. ♥️
@@LexiJong hey Lexi :) Did you tried maybe the Rae Morris new brush? I did not see it in your videos and I remember you told me you bought it so have you tried it? I'm sorry if I missed a video about it. Thank you in advance ❤
Hi Lexi, For powder I think I’ll stick with my favourite Sisley Phyto Poudre Compact. It’s very good for my dry skin and it looks great. Not cheap-$140 (Australia) but you get 12g compared with 5g Cle de Peau powder. The lipsticks look nice but they will disappear very fast every time you est/drink something, they will transfer to glasses, clothes, somebody cheeks 😁 etc. And the price in AUD will be like Hermes eyeshadows-$175. I think for a lipstick that you have to reapply 50 times per day is not worth it. At least the Hermes eyeshadows are gorgeous and stay on all day. I love Sonia G brushes and this set is beautiful. I will buy 2-3 brushes because is very expensive and I already have a lot of Sonia G eye brushes. In December I bought the Holiday set because it is made with squirrel hair and is gorgeous. Again very pricey for 4 tiny brushes:$380 (Australia) but I don’t regret. 😍 Thanks for sharing!🙂
Lexi, very nice comparison of the various face powders. I really like the Sisley powder as a blur powder under foundation. I like the Chantecaille more like setting powder. I have not tried the Prada or new CDP. The CDP lipsticks look really nice and I love the shades you picked. A lot of them are sold out at dept stores. The RMK another new brand to me & looks similar to Tokyo Addiction. I like that you are looking at different brands. And great review & comparison of Sonia G new brushes. 😊🌺
I picked up the #6 Topaz CDP precious lipstick. Beautiful. Very similar in color to Chanel nudes in Nuance. (Limited edition )…except the sheen in Topaz is amazing. So gorgeous. Thanks for your recommendations!!
Dear Lexi, you are first on the new BB-Blushes!!!❤ Can you please discribe the colour ' Modern"? Is it a pink or a rose colour? I love schimmer and Im' happy that BB seems to be back and on your chanel....Thank ypo!😊❤
Thank you! Modern is a pinky rose but think of a fresh rose that has more of that true pink shade and no dustiness or muted colors. Desert pink is more of a traditional rose with a touch of mauve. I would love to get more of these shades sometime.
Hi Lexi, the Precious lipsticks look so delicious. They haven’t got to be on the CDP website for Canada yet. I’m holding off on purchasing any lipsticks at this moment to invest in the CDP precious lipsticks when they come to Canada.
@@LexiJong Yeah, I’m so tempted with the Dior lipsticks, the Suqqu moisture glaze lipsticks but I will save my money for the CDP precious lipsticks because you said they are really hydrating!!
Oh no!! How could you introduce me to another beautiful Japanese eyeshadow formula??!! 😩 Wow it’s beautiful!!! Oh it looked beautiful on, as well!! ❤ I bet Lunasol is coming too, isn’t it?! I’ve seen Lunasol palettes on Instagram and wondered about them! My poor wallet!! 😰😂 I love all the pretty earrings you wore this video!!
Hi Lexi, I got the CDP powder yesterday and tried it today. The first attempt was a disaster even though I already layered skincare and sunscreen before applying the CDP The Foundation. I let the foundation sit for 10 minutes before applying the CDO powder with the Chikuhodo MK-SK. It came out so dry and patchy. So I used the beauty blender to try to blend it into the skin but it stuck to the sponge and came all out. So, I prep my skin again, then applied the CDP cushion foundation, then the Sisley Blur powder, then the CDP powder with the Chikuhodo FO-1, and it came out okay. After blush and highlight, I even used the Guerlain meorite powder as finishing powder and it did not take off anything underneath. But seeing you applying the CDP powder directly on top of your foundation without any patchy effect, I wonder what I did wrong. Is there any trick you can offer now that you have a chance to use this CDP powder for a month or two? Thanks
How long are you waiting after applying your foundation? Maybe it's too wet so it's sticking to areas with more moisture? That's the only thing I can think of. I haven't really had any patchiness issues.
I just bought the limited edition Chanel Cristal quad they are all restocked right now if u want to link it . I know they haven't restocked the 2 popular ones sense summer . I finally got it and the purple CDP quad was finally in stock so I got bought that yesterday. I been going eyeshadow crazy here. My husband is like how many expensive ass eyeshadows do u need 😂 I wasn't about to pass up the Chanel quad I was so upset I missed out on it and now it's back wonder if it's because they brought that Dior quint out that's similar.
Awesome presentation! Do you feel any diamond dust on your lips feom fhe CDP lipstick? The House of Sillage lipsticks have that and the emollients soak into my lips leaving behind a gritty dust. Have you tried the CDP lipstick in any of the Sillage cases? I love my Sillage case but not their lipstick, would love to find a different brand that works with those cases. My Sonia G. small buffer brush has become dry. The hairs are somewhat straw-like. I have tried hair conditioner but it doesn't help. I think I caused hair breakage by using metallic shimmer powders and buffing the brush on them. Maybe I should have stuck to plain powders with no shimmer particles.
Hmm, I wonder if the metallics actually physically harmed the hair fibers. You may want to message sonia g on instagram and ask her if she has any advice. I don't feel any grittiness from the CdP even with repeated application. I haven't tried the House of Sillage lipsticks so I'm not sure if the cases fit.
Hi Lexi, I have an easy questions this time: between the Wesrman Atelier powder, Hermes powder and Cle de Peau powder, which one is most hydrating and radiant? Which one is more brightening? And to compare to our favourites Chantecaille the Holiday powder and Sisley compressed powder, is the CDP less hydrating or more? Many thanks
Hydrating and radiant are different. CdP is more hydrating over time. WA might be more radiant & brightening because of the shades. I really think the Sisley and Chantecaille comparisons don't work because you use them a bit differently. I wouldn't really say any powder is hydrating but the CdP melts into the skin more over time.
@@LexiJong Thank you, Lexi. I was just afraid that the CDP powder would be dry from the look of it but now you say it’s melting into the skin then that took my concerns away! I will definitely try it. Just a quick update, I’m really pleased with the Sisley blur powder over foundation too!!
Lexi. You have rephr slanted saibikoho maki brush? What do you think? I prefer the paddle one over the slanted one. How do I use it? It feels flimsy to me. I did email rephr.. no reply yet. Thank you for your opinion!!
Yes, I actually prefer the slanted 3D shape. I think it gives a beautiful blush application in particular and because of the shape, you can control how much of the fibers are kissing your face as you swipe it on. It also works nicely for bronzer. You can flip it over for the flat side to use the edge for highlighter as well. This is one of my favorite brushes so I really hope you end up loving it! Some of my favorite brushes are ones that I didn't love initially but after using them and playing around with them more, I found them to be very special.
@@LexiJong now I have difficult questions for you, sorry: between the CDP powder and the Westman Atelier powder, you like which one more? And you once said the Hermes powder is more or less same as the Westman Atelier powder, right ? And it seems that the Burberry powder is as nice as the CDP but drier, right?
How does the Sonia g brushes work on mattes. Etc. Regular shimmers metallics ? I see they silly the lighter palette you are using. #5 is the workhorse it seems. Does quit a bit #4 is a good brush for Crease transition. It lays it even I noticed
I have one Clé de Peau lipstick, Raspberry Radiance, and the lipstick is too wide for my lipstick holder. The color, however, is perfect for my cool coloring.
I think it looks better after a long day compared to both of those. It is more velvety looking. I would say it is smoother than the CT but the WA feels more like a pressed pigment so those are hard to compare.
How would you compare the Cle de peaue powder from the old formula and new formula - ingredient, feel, coverage, new benefits? - I’m really upset I didn’t know they were changing it - for years I have wanted to splurge on that super lux LX metal refillable old-formula powder, but I was waiting to use my other powders bc the price was over $200 for powder and super lax metal packaging - now I absolutely hate the new packaging - it’s at the price point in between the old formula “cheaper” version packaging and the lid LX metal packaging (I noticed) - but it’s ugly imo and bulky - it is just like all they’re other packaging, but boring without the thrill of something like mermaid s of gold faceting - I could maybe the old LX on 3rd party stores… but then I think, well, maybe the new formulation is much better - so now I’m have decision gridlock - I wonder if people would be interested if you did a video comparison? Also, do you know what happened to the Cle de peau hearts collection? Did we not get it here - I see the highlighter was sold out but the time I got to the site but the cushion pretty refill heart package was nowhere to be found - I was saving money for that and trying to figure out my cushion shade for soiling in anticipation - I’m so bummed about Cle de peau right now ;(
I don't have the older formula, sorry! The CdP hearts collection is available now but the cushion is not coming to the US. I was waiting for that one as well which is why I was holding off on buying a refill. It's definitely disappointing. I would love a prettier case.
What am I doing wrong?! Everyone enjoys the sisley blur powder under foundation but it makes my skin look worse that way- I'll use my normal skin care (sisley or augustus bader)- add a traditional primer- usually tatcha, ysl blur, or milk makeup stick- and then buffing in the blur powder before foundation- and its awful!!
@@LexiJongYES! It was tacky the few times I tried it! I usually use YSL blur primer in the colder months for added hydration! I would have used that with my chantecaille serum and Augustinus Bader the rich cream (I just picked up the regular cream vsince the change in season for daytime) - I'm going to try just the Augustinus Bader the cream- let dry- then primer - I just started using DHC velvet skin coat (I really enjoy this)- and then the powder AFTER it dries down and see if that helps! I tried the powder in the past using chantecaille buff and blur brush, sonia G Masterface, and even the Niji. - same blotchy result. Randomness but I did try Sisley's Phyto Hydra Teint in 0 from the 20% off sale today and its beautiful.
Maybe it's just a product that won't work for you. It's a shame though. If you can find a sample of the Surratt primer, that might help before application but otherwise, it sounds like you have tried pretty much everything. I'm glad you like the tint!
Hi Lexi, from this video, I really wanted the CDP precious lipsticks at whatever it costs. However, I was really dismayed when CDP sent all six shades to Jackelyn for her to review. If the lipsticks are that precious, why did they give her all six shades? So I deduce that the price they put on the lipsticks are overstated and not worth the money.
That could be! I know she is on their PR list so they usually send her full or mostly full collections along with the other creators on their list. I think it's a good way for them to advertise and get around the photoshopped swatches that always go on the websites so people can see all of the shades. Personally, I think it's better to compare all the shades so you can see how they stack up against each other but I agree that it is an expensive PR package. All of their items are pretty pricey though so perhaps that is just how they decide to invest their marketing. I'm sure there is a heavy markup on all of the cosmetics.
I'm sorry, but those CP lipsticks are not skincare--the ingredient deck is filled with synthetic chemicals (silicones) , plastics (polyethylene), dyes, heavy metals (several forms of aluminum), harmful preservative (BHT) and fragrance (which can host hundreds of other harmful chemicals that are not disclosed). So paying $110 to put poisonous chemicals on my lips is unacceptable, especially at that price point. In general, Japanese cosmetics are pretty to look at, but closer inspection will reveal cheap ingredients disguised by fancy descriptions/packaging.
Lexi, your reviews are dangerous for me… Addiction. Tokyo is on its way to me. I’m looking forward to trying their eyeshadows, but I had to get the highlighter/blush you reviewed. I’m curious your thoughts about Sonja G brushes. I do not own any and I’ve purchased a lot of BK and ready for this year. I also got the beauty Lish purple dragon brush before you had reviewed it which I really like. With regards to this set versus, the fundamental set or the fusion set. I’d love your thoughts for a beginner into her brushes. They’re just very expensive and I can’t swing all of them. I recognize that you have an extensive collection and appear very knowledgeable, so your opinion especially on best for performance I would really value. Thanks.
I think this would be a great video! In the meantime, I think it really depends what type of formulas you use mostly. The fusion brushes are awesome for creams and liquids but your BK Beauty can also cover that area. For powders, I definitely prefer the natural hair brushes in the other sets. I think you should skip the idea of a set since there is no cost benefit to purchasing all of them at once and just get specific brushes from each set. DM me on IG or send me an email and tell me what you already have and what types of products you like to use most and whether you are more into one-and-done looks or detailed applications. I will give you my thoughts as to what is great to start with based on what you have. I would definitely just start with a few key brushes and see how you like them first. Beautylish usually has their GC event in the spring so you may want to wait for that as well.
@@LexiJong I knew you would be able to steer me in the right direction. I have a few face brushes I’d have to go back and see, in BK. I have picked up more in rephr, the mini set since I have hooded eyes, as well as many of the face brushes. I loved their special blush/powder brush (all from this past Black Friday). As I mentioned I purchased from beautylish the purple dragon powder brush which is also very special. I definitely will wait for their GC event. I think the handles on this set as well as the fundamentals are beautiful ( the natural wood appeals to me ) but it really makes sense to focus on the function and usefulness. I always hear certain brushes mentioned, even in this video, but there are soooo many. I think I’d love your top 10-15 maybe
Hi dear Lexi, i know/saw RMK on Asian webstites here as well, beautiful and looks beautiful on you!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩Still have so much eyeshadow, waiting for Suqqu, i prefer that. CDP, such a beautiful brand! We are quite behind with launches here in EU, that new cushion foundation, quare instead of round we still do not have here, the new eyeshadow quads, not anywhere here in EU, i purchased some eyeshadow quads in Asia last summer. Yes, Fude Japan is a very good company, Toshiya is a very kind person, shippping rates not crazy, package comes so quick, when i order something there! However, what i can order here, better, and better for planet. And still have quite some foundations and powders. This powder, i cannot find it anywhere, from CDP, well, in the USA, but CDP USA does not ship outside USA/Canada if i am correct. So, yes, when i really really want something, i shop it in Asia, but want to limit that, as i still have so much. Burberry i cannot shop from here, from The Netherlands, but i think the powders look both very beautiful on you!!! Bobbi Brown, a no. Sonia G. a maybe, i still swimm in brushes for a simple consumer, Lexi, but maybe, or maybe 1 or 2, they are beautiful! Goat brushes and horse brushes i still purchase, smaller animals i have more and more a problem with, but that's me. But do i dump my squirrel etc brushes in the North Sea, no, than these animals suffered for nothing, that's also waste, but focus on softest goat hair or synthetic made in Japan or from BK Beauty the most, since a few weeks. Loved the video, always so much info, really a Lexi video, i appreciate that so much, thank you, have a wonderful day!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
@@LexiJong thanks dear Lexi, yes, Kruimeltje ( Dutch for Little Crumble) is back at full strenght, yesterday we finished after months his Prednison, no guarantee that the meningitis stays away, it can come back, we have to calculate with that, is a realistic scenario, when that happens, the rest of his life probably Prednison, but we want to think positive, and positive, and positive, and pray as well that it stays away! Thanks, so kind of you Lexi! How is your puppy doing? ❤
