Brought the 20 inch Gingersnap direct from Bobbin. Came badly packaged, scratched up and all the issues you mention in this review existed and more! Definitely style over substance. Everything cheaply made, front forks were wider than the wheel spindle by an inch. And this bike is very heavy (steel). Returned for a refund. Instead brought a Raleigh Pop, aluminium frame, much lighter weight, v brakes, all-round higher quality. That fact the bobbin arrived damaged has worked out to be a blessing.
Cheers for this review - enjoyed it. We've just ordered the 20" for my daughter as it's the perfect style for her....but am now unsure as to what the quality will be like after watching this review. For a 6-year-old, I'm sure she'll not worry about those things but you're spot on with the style over substance part. It's a shame they've not put in a little bit more effort in terms of better quality finishing - centred screen holes, metal chain guard etc but I guess it's a case of them knowing that they can get them in cheap and can still shift them because of how they look. This is a very poor review , the details you are complaining about is ridiculous if you spend £500 yeah maybe one or two points may stand . I’ve bought 1k zipp carbon wheels that were not true out the box it wasn’t out much. This a hand built bike by a small company
If you were in happy about the location of the bell … how about move it . If you don’t like the quality of the tools provided … buy park tools … or would like to pay an extra £40 pound ? Very pedantic pointless review the bike is sub £200 what are you expecting absolute perfection
