Caldwell wrote and performed songs for the movies Back to School ("Educated Girl"), Mac and Me ("Take Me, I'll Follow You"), Salsa ("Puerto Rico") and its sequel ("Every Teardrop"). He also recorded a song for the 1984 film Night of the Comet ("Never Give Up"). Due to what he has cited in interviews as a lower cost of use than the original recordings, his versions of big band standards have appeared in several films. Examples include Simone (2001) and Lake Boat (2002). Aside from a minor role in 1988's Salsa, Caldwell portrayed Frank Sinatra from October 1999 to January 2000 in the Las Vegas musical The Rat Pack Is Back. What a great entertainer! I’m sad for his family & for the horrible pain that he endured from being “floxed”. 😂
That’s interesting information and a heartfelt comment. (Obviously you didn’t intend for that to be a laugh emoji. There needs to be an EDIT option on here!🤔)
Yes. As I watch these old videos of Bobby and his bands over the years, I can see what a concertmaster he is. His hands love him. He just had music in him and they saw and respected that. Those bands were tight, and you can see the utter bliss on his face when a band performer nails it. He allowed them to shine.
ボビー、大好きです。 あなたのLiveに行って生の歌声を聴くことが、私の人生の目標の一つでした。 Bobby, I'm so sad. May he rest in peace. If I keep listening to your songs, you will always be in my heart. "All or Nothing At All" is my favorite of Bobby's songs.
The first time I heard this man's smooth silky voice was back in May 1980 at the Pier House Restaurant and lounge. Mr. Caldwell did a live concert there and I was there and he did some songs from his debut album, "The cat in the hat." Best time I ever had.
This artist Bobby Caldwell new how to convey his total emotion's to a woman ! A complete man and a Gentleman ! The world needs more Bobby Caldwell's !.
never heard of the man until the soul train awards 2013 deserves much more attention smooth soulful voice pure talent with no gimmicks. doesn't sing trash like there is radio today definitely underrated in main stream music what a shame.
I found out about him thanks to 2pac, listened to him throughout all of high school. I couldn't care less what is appreciated on a mainstream level, but I think he did very well for himself. I think Japan admired his music more than America, which doesn't surprise me when you look at pop music in Japan in the same time period.
@@dwightlove3704 Yes. It has been done by numerous artists. However, It was first done by Bobby Caldwell. We are talking about What You Wont Do for Love. Right
I was so delighted to see him a few times at the Soiled Dove Underground in Denver - smaller club - night club setting. He & his band were so awesome. They met with the audience after the show. RIP Bobby! So glad we have videos, vinyls & CDs.
Bobby Caldwell is the defination of style and soul. Thank you thank you thank you. U da best. What you won't do for love is the greatest love song ever. Yup
All or Nothing at All is my favorite song, his voice is smooth & strong, the music & beat is tight & powerful & has the drive that send you a message that makes your heart go racing with the groove. This song has a statement of greatness as all his other song, I'm a Tower of Power guy but when it comes to smooth jazz, this is it RJR
The first live show I saw had him opening with "Walk On By" and he got tight up to the mike in a smooth move and started crooning, and already a fan, I thought "This Guy is a Real PERFORMER". One of the following comments says "Buy his CD's and you can tell..." So true, and many will remark " I didn't know he wrote that one". Indeed he belongs in the R&R Hall of Fame!
Jim Oppenheim also another underrated saxophonist. As "Boney James" he often been compared to Kenny G but he actually have his own style and different groove. And his performance on this Bobby Caldwell live was at his best :)
First time I’ve seen this. I’ve come across more as I’ve googled his songs and performances. Bobby hits it out of the park every time! He deserved much more recognition. In my book, he’s up there amongst the pantheon of the best of the best musicians. A highly talented and polished professional.
*********** I have always both Loved & Enjoyed Mr. Bobby CALDWELL music all the way back to 1977--1978 """ WHAT YOU WON'T DO FOR LOVE """ . Then both He and his band came along with this song ***** ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL ********* W---O----W !!!!!
There nothing like watching Bobby Caldwell & his back-up band of great musicians & singers perform live on stage, there nothing like it. Watched his performance at the Jazz Club in Waikiki back than, I tell you this, there is nothing like watching him live, I got all his CD's, live is better. RJR
JAY KAY From Jamiroquai reminds me of him lol. This is Dope at its Finest & Being Black myself, I Love how he's White Singing R&B...It's Thrilling! ❤️💋
