really not that hard to hit batting practice. I do it all the time for my team. What amazes me is that it amazes someone that someone else could hit 10 good ground balls to specific spot on the field.

Love your channel! And was highly impressed by this small video clip. I can't imagine the amount of great drills that that kids going to your camps get to see from your experiences.
They are even more prone to bad habits than little leaguers. Why you ask? Because these guys have the athleticism to overcome the bad habits, but even athleticism can only go so far.
Hehe when a great Master is teaching I don't speak much either . I go ok , and nod. Ig the subject is tactical,or formartions , then there is more room for questions, debate or opinions.
I play softball now, but when I played baseball, there were too many coaches that got mad at you, but likely couldn't make the play themselves. Example would be playing LF on a bumpy field. Ball would come at you and take a hard kick to the side. Coach immediately gets pissed and starts yelling stuff like "keep it in front of you!" My favorite is when an overweight coach gets mad at an outfielder for not making the catch on a ball they had to run 90+ feet for and one that statcast would rate a 5 star grab if it's made.
Jesus Rodriguez he means let the ball travel to you. Don’t go get the ball and try to bring it back to make the tag. Let the ball do the work by letting the ball come to you
My favorite part about this is this it’s probably 5-10 minutes in real time. I love the unspoken expectancy of “You’re a pro. I’m going to show you something for a few minutes and after that, it’s up to you and the rest of your career to build upon this training.”
it’s amazing to see professionals coaching he is already an insane athlete the fact his is established in the league but the coach is still able to expose his weaknesses that’s just great coaching
True test of a good athlete. The coach blatantly laughs at him when he messes up and the guy doesn’t even change his facial expression... in fact he looks more determined and goes for it harder... that’s a coachable guy. 👏
I am from the UK and love baseball. These finer details and technique`s i find so interesting. I remember trying to hit balls from one of those machines when on holiday but always hit the ball into the ground. I thought i was going to be better. I played Golf and Cricket to a decent level so expected results pretty quick. The next guy up played semi pro baseball, his partner told me and it was a thing of beauty watching him. Similar watching a pro golfer. Kind of extended the swing fully.You could see his swing repeated and he was coached. Its superb watching people who are good at what they do.
this is what makes Baez so good at the no look tags. he lets the ball pass his face and then drops the glove straight down, always making it the same spot
I love baseball. I never went past Little League. But, as a Little Leaguer and a son, I was able to watch and learn some from the late 1960s-early 1970s Championship Baltimore Orioles (Sometimes in person at Memorial Stadium). Hall of Famers!! I wish I had stuck it out. I was always a great fielder (mostly outfield, but I subbed at 3rd base very nicely). I think I would have figured hitting out, but maybe the times just weren't there, and I would just continue to suck at hitting! Well, now, my back hurts too much to swing a bat hard, so the OVER THE FENCE homer is still out of the question...ALWAYS WAS! But learning the game, like we see in this video, dotting the i's and crossing the t's, is just beautiful. Holding the tag was missing, where instant replay is so prevalent nowadays. But I love the fundamentals taught in the video, and would have loved to go through those drills as a young ballplayer! Great stuff!
Best infield coach in the Major Leagues , not even close . Coached him as a player in AA Albany NY 1989 . Should also get a chance to Manage at the ML level. 👍⚾️
I wish I had these type of coaches growing up. I ended up with the ones that told you that your swing plane needs to come down at the ball, hit the top half of the ball, and raise your back elbow as high as you can.
I love the way Bobby works with his players. When I first saw this I thought Renato was disrespectful by not looking at Bobby and tossing rocks, etc. Turns out he is in the minors now.
I agree, there shouldn't be one tag that you're married to. However, letting the ball get to you is absolutely good advice. The ball can fly a lot faster than you can swing your arm.

imagine how much better players (not just mlb players just players in general, even rec players) would be if their coaches taught them this stuff from a young age.
