Nothing controversial about this statement. Dennis Brown was a singer and Bob Marley was a musician and a messenger; Bob was not known for his singing prowess--he was known for his love and positive messaging/panAfricanism.

When that slim thing started in Jamaica by Wayne Smith, I already Migrated to the United States. I know that young man 👨 from a little boy 👦, my cousin have a daughter for his brother. I useto go by his house 🏠, I liked the rhythm it is not bad at all. I didn't know that he was a singer until, I heard the song on a radio station in the United States. I useto go down by Jammys a year time when he have his anniversary, it is like you are at a stage show. I was by Jammys anniversary when he released Admiral Bailey song two years old, that is the very 1st time I heard it.The number 1 sound system to come out of Waterhouse, is King Tubbys Hi-fi. I know of a lot of sound system in Waterhouse,Excalibur, Stylistic,Wally Hi-fi, Yakka sound system, just to mentioned a few of them.
I agree with Bobby Digital. Dancehall is the venue. All Jamaican music falls under the umbrella of Reggae Music. Party reggae, trap reggae whatever they wanna call it is fine but it falls within the scope of reggae music. Bobby Digital say so‼️

The great Bobby Digital...I remember going to buy records back in days...Every 10 record I buy, 9 was from Digital-B label...However, I disagree that Dennis Brown was the # 1 singer over Bob Marley...The 2 artist are in different music category, but Bob Marley got the Title as # 1 over Dennis Brown in my book. 99%" if not 100% of Bob Marley songs are originally songs that he wrote and sing. However, 99% of Dennis Brown songs are covers of other artist songs...To this day, I am still finding songs that I thought Dennis Brown sang originally, but it turns out the songs were originally sang by other artist...Too much to mention....Respect

There’s a difference between a great singer and an inspirational singer. Bob’s music was extremely potent but other singers had better voice than him including Dennis Brown. Some of the greatest voices are so numerous but some that readily come to mind are barrington Levy, garnet silk, bunny rugs, beres , Luciano, Sanchez, ras shilo, jah cure, thriller u, luckie d .... etc ...the list goes on!!!

Wayne Smith's Sleng Teng Riddim, Wayne and his friend brought it to Bobby Digital and Jammy's was away when they came back they built the riddim and Wayne Smith Sung his song on it.
That friend was Noel Davey who originally made Sleng Teng & it was Wayne Smith who helped Noel Davey FIND back the preset of which it is as a preset in the MT40 Casio Keyboard.

Love the interview but I can't agree with everything he has put forward. I can't understand why the older heads like myself won't recognize that these young youths have created a new genre of music out of Jamaica. Dancehall music. Should I really here some Alkaline, Kartel, Aidonia etc.. and call it reggae. If the Ska, Rock steady and rubba dub generation said the same thing, reggae wouldn't be striving today. Lloyd said in a interview that Tenor Saw did Pumpkin Belly for Sugar minott's Youth Promotion and he somehow managed to secure a cassette tape of the session. So when he listen it back Lloyd said he had to have a cut of this to put on the Sleng teng riddim. So he called Tenor Saw and paid him 8 thousand dollars to come to the studio and voice live over the riddim track . When Tenor was in the studio he could not replicate the session he did with Youth Promotion after how much takes so Tenor agreed to let Jammys use the tape which they enhanced and mastered to become the smash hit it is today .
Dennis was a natural singer think about it bob was Big cus of the title of his songs tracks at the time much oppression and his work ethic and global reach
