Bobby Goldsboro (born January 18, 1941) is an American country and pop singer-songwriter. He had a string of pop and country hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including his signature No. 1 hit "Honey," which sold over one million copies in the United States.
Goldsboro was born in Marianna, Florida. In 1941, Goldsboro's family moved 35 miles north from Marianna to Dothan, Alabama. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1959 and later enrolled at Auburn University. Goldsboro left college after his second year to pursue a musical career. He played guitar for Roy Orbison from 1962 to 1964 while releasing a few unsuccessful singles. Recorded 2012.

Not many songs make you visualise an image in your mind but this one does with me. For some reason whenever i hear this song i picture a hot summer's day with a gentle breeze and a blue cloudless sky and a white sandy beach with a young couple walking along it with seagulls flying overhead, lol.

Bobby grew up one town below me. Even though he was 20 yrs older than me I loved his music. I still do. Takes me back to growing up in Southeast Alabama. The area was so proud he grew up there. True Southern gentlemen. His family owned the florist in town. Wish I could have met him then.

It is a song so full of reminiscence and brings back youthful years, yet it is absolutely timeless. The lyrics are wonderful and the melody haunting. A perfect start to Summer each and every year. Top of the Pops 2: Summertime Special brought me here tonight. Heard this for the first time in my near 50 year life, what an amazing track sung so beautifully. My Dad would have probably had this on the radio when I used to go to work with him as a little boy, this would have been right up his street and I imagine him singing along with me in tow. Now its my turn to download it and pass it on to my little 3 year old and hope he likes it too..................

I never get tired of this song. I saw a version of this with, I believe, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra where he's playing a 12-string guitar or one of those with a double neck. Another one of those way underrated singers, players, & writers. I have a cd of re-recorded hits of his 10 anniversary album I bought from his website; asked for it to be autographed & it was! The only one missing was Come Back Home. I emailed back & asked why & they said it'd be on another cd. Haven't checked back on that. Also have the original vinyl version. Used to have the 8-track too. One of the ones I listened to in my travels around Alaska summer of '78.
