Anyone else feel like he just invented a couple of new notes in there? That was outrageous vocal control. What a legend. Thanks for bringing that to my ears.
If i had to choose just one person to listen to for the rest of my life, it'd be Bobby. He can rock, wail, gospel and ballad, the finest counter tenor ever.
I absolutely agree, amazing vocals, really mind blowing. To chose a favourite song, sung by Bobby, I wouldn’t know where to begin. Bobby didn’t get the deserved recognition at the time and I cannot fathom out why. Pure perfection and talent. In my mind he’s the most talented vocalist of all time, his range is off the scale.
Absolutely ruby, what a blessed individual, a counter tenor, that could reach those notes. He is dearly missed. This song does show his beautiful voice, hitting those range of octaves.
Bobby put his own spin on this song...he was a tenor / counter tenor. He had such an amazing range of octave. It shows in this song, and unchained melody.
Sorry for the late reply, but i'm the middle of another Righteous Brothers deep dive and you're spot on. They just arent given enough credit, neither one of them, but Bobby in particular. Yes, they had their hits and they have their fans, new ones all the time, but these two were something truly special.
"Summertime" is such a great song & has been covered by so many artists. Love this version! It shows just how good Bobby Hatfield was & his incredible range. The Righteous Brothers were known for their blue eyed soul music.
Also, If I ruled the World and Somewhere, both soothe my soul when I'm tired of the everyday world. Bobby was an earth angel and siren rolled into one, Bill is fab, but no one can ever match Bobby.
Nobody could wail like Bobby. They were dubbed "Blue Eyed Soul by some DJ somewhere. Amazing, right??? Wait till you see his live performance on the Andy Williams Show 1965. He and Bill are amazing together too, both great soloists, or great as a duo.
You are right. I believe the DJ was Georgie Woods in Philly. After meeting them when he'd introduce their records, he would call them his blue-eyed soul brothers. Hope you are well.
OMFG.... What did I just hear? He is incredible! He really surprised me. Crescendos, vocal fry, vibrato, I love his voice wowwwww. He is now in my top 10 male vocalists.
I was laughing out loud at your reaction. I could not help it. You were shocked, amazed and totally honest. I love watching your channel. Great job!!!! Again
When they started singing together they would get a lot of their audience from El Toro Marine Airbase and they would tell Bill & Bobby as they left "righteous brother," and that' how they got their name.
Absolutely you will need to hear that, he was a very blessed individual; with a blessed voice. I cannot think of anyone then or now that could reach that range. He is dearly missed, but we still have his 🎶.
Sir, it is a pleasure to see young people find Bill and Bobby. As you may have discovered, Bobby died some years ago. Bill is still performing and has the same energy he had in 1965. I played their music as a Rock Jock, starting with "You've Lost", Unchained", and "Soul and...". Soul, as you know, has no color, however, if it did, these guys would be black like the ace of spades. FYI, I am very white, 77 years old, and still rockin', but now in a chair. Rock on!
Bobby Hatfield was one of the greatest singers ever. A league of his own. If you hadn't reacted to Unchained Melody by him I suggest you do. When he teams up with the other brother Bill Medley they belt out such great songs as You lost that Loving Feeling Soul and Inspiration For once in my Life. They were on 🔥 Fire doing The Night Time is the Right Time and Little latin Lupe Lu.
Bobby had soul as deep and pure as his talent. He could dance too! Thanks for your reaction and showing us this gem! I have a special feeling for Bobby and hope you do more of his solo's like My Prayer. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are truly missed.
I saw when you were reviewing this live the other day. I’m glad you clipped it. This is one of the best performance I’ve ever seen in my life, and I was already a huge fan of the righteous Brothers and know how soulful both men are.
Once again I sure do thank you for letting Mr. Bobby Hatfield finish singing the song and finally realizing that it is a solo and was not intended to be a duo. If it were he would have sang it with Mr. Bill Medley. Goodnight.
This was my parents generation of music but i grew up listening to these guys. Bobby is my favorite singer from this era. This was the funniest and best reaction i have come across. You can tell you really enjoy the singing.
So many singers have done this song but I just cannot seem to get Janis Joplin out of my head when I hear this song I just hear her version but damn Bobby Hatfield really blew me away!
Bobby's vocal performance of this classic song is off the vocal register somewhere in the stratosphere absolutely amazing. R.I.P Bobby Hatfield ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The only "crazy", "nonsense " thing about this beautiful little song is the "CONSTANT INTERRUPTIONS" when Mr Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers is trying to sing it and also talking to his other Righteous Brother. If you do not believe me, play it back and this time listen and you will indeed appreciate it a whole lot more. "BLUE EYED SOUL" is what it's all about. SOUL has no color. Hint!Hint!Hint! Adios Amigo. Adios.
No one even came close to Bobby's genius. he added his uniqueness to all their duets, too. imagine what their duets would be without Bobby. Thank you for playing and appreciating especially this song.
I rewatch your reaction bc of your genuine surprise and appreciation of the EPIC talent of Bobby. I sat slack jawed the 1st time I saw this performance. It makes me nostalgic for a time I never knew. Bobby Hatfield was touched by God. ❤❤
Bobby was so so amazing!!! Heard the White White comment. Felt no way but as a 70 yr old “white” woman I’ve held my own in a “black” West Indian community dancing. I was also included in an African dancing group - was part owner of a sound system playing all over England with the speaker boxes occupying my dining room. I’ve had the best life - have 4 beautiful black girlies who carry on my legacy of dancing and 8 grandees coming up. I have no problem with the white and black words as we are one and I just appreciate good music. This wonderful white singer is amazing but I’ve heard many wonderful black singers too - like my lovely Johnny Holt ( a favourite). I’m glad you appreciate Bobby because he was so wonderful and such a talent. It was so sad how and why he died 😢
Great reaction that Bobby Hadfield deserves and I have that reaction every time I listen to him twice a day I tried twice a day today is one time probably still will listen to him another and Unchained Melody I used to listen to other singers but now just Bobby Hadfield and I knew about him all these years I'm 89 years old but I just know it's like I'm listening for the first time can't get enough of it the great and best Bobby Hatfield gone too Young and he's 60s in 2007 not real brothers but best friends.
Bob Hatfield was probably a genius. He was great at everything he did and like many great artists had a drug problem. Too bad someone didn't love him enough to help him overcome it.
