Bobby Hull scores 3 in 1st period 1974 

I had the privilege to meet Mr. Hull a couple of times. Rest in peace Bobby,,,great memories of a great hockey player.

Mama Mia, what a fantastic 1st period by Team Canada and especially by the one and only legendary Bobby Hull, he's so fast he had the nickname The Golden Jet and he's here with 3 goals a hat trick in the 1st period and where he scored 2 goals in just 1 minute 6 seconds so fast it's beyond belief unless you see it with your own eyes. With his super cat like reflex that is faster than I can see so I gotta rewind it a few times so I can even see it. That is why Bobby Hull was the first hockey player in history to get a 1 Million dollar contract. It is an inspirational event just to watch him in action. His negotiation with the league changed sports contracts forever so that all future hockey greats owe Bobby thanks for finally getting the player to share a decent percentage of the vast amounts that the league was making off the backs of the blood, sweat and tears and a lot of injuries of the hockey players. One of the greatest things about Bobby Hull was that he would stay late after games and sign autographs for his fans. That trumps a lot of players who don't appreciate their fans. Bobby Hull was a top player and usually number 1 when there were only the Legendary Original 6 Teams in the whole NHL hockey league, until they went from 6 team to a mind boggling 12 hockey teams for the 1967-68 season then again to 18 teams by 1974 and now there are 31 teams in the NHL. So talk about watered down talent as compared to getting all the best in just 6 teams when a fan could know all the players, like myself and my 2 brothers did in the 1960's. I got to see Bobby Hull play with Chicago against the Montreal Canadians in Montreal in 1970 and i walked behind the players bench and Bobby was 1 foot away from me. Later I got to met Bobbie and talk with him for 10 minutes in 1990 when he was signing autographs at Legendary Sports Memorabilia in Toronto. I showed Bobby some of our family's collection of pictures, which were taken by a professional photographer in the Hockey league, it was an awesome collection of hundreds of top quality hockey photos a priceless collection of single players and even team photos with the Stanley Cup. Those were the days my friend. I thought they'd never end. Thanks to RU-vid we can re-live them again.

Man, these guys would fly in today's skates. Most people don't realize how hard it was to perform well in those steel tube skates. Very heavy, stiff and clunky. Its a wonder how good they are in them, even tho slowish by modern standards. Equipment has really taken a quantum leap

I'd forgotten how soft Whitey Stapleton's hands were and what a heads up, accurate passer he was. He also had a penchant for picking up historic pucks it appears! He claims to have Henderson's puck from the series winning goal of the Summit Series and here it appears he hands the hat trick puck to the Golden Jet! Pretty cool......

Bobby Hull blew everyone away by not only playing, butalso making every person on the ice or off the ice by showin the class he showed my dad and family. Thank you so much Bobby Hull. AND, i got the pictures! 8:32 8:35

The WHA team was a great team especially when their age is considered.The oldest player on the Russian squad was 29, while the WHA had multiple players deep into their 30s and of course Gordie Howe was 46.

This is the first time I've seen this since 1974, and it turns out the same. Unfortunately, Canada failed to score in the last 2 periods, the game ended 5-5, and the series declined from there. For those too old or too young to remember, Paul Henderson and Frank Mahovlich were in this series because they had jumped from the NHL to the Toronto Toros.

Hull and Howe were in their twilight, but look at how they played. true legends.

After Hull got his hat trick Pat Stapleton grabbed the puck lol...think he wanted it for his collection like the game winning goal puck he got in the last game in Moscow.

Sorry Paul Henderson BUT if Hull had been allowed to play ,no one would have ever heard of you, this was two years after the 72 series and hull had 7 goals in the first 4 games hurt his knee in this game but still played the last 4 games in Russia .He was 35 during this series . He would have played on Espo line and God knows how many goals he would have scored with him.
