Bobby has this ability to mix what sounds like chest and subs at the same time. It's almost like chest-fry and subs had a baby. It makes for a seamless transition. What gets many basses in trouble (including myself), who use subharmonics to extend their range, there tends to be a gap from the bottom of chest and where effective subs begins of about 3-4 semi-tones -- where you have to use chest-fry or pure fry to accomplish the note. Bobby doesn't suffer from that. Like, for example, I cannot do a subharmonic at F1 or E1 very well, but F1 is where my chest range starts to get weak and I tend to bolster it with some fry... my subharmonics at D1 and even down to E0 sound better than they do at E1 or F1.
