I'm 32 and i grew up on Bobby, Al, Stevie, Teddy and others but they are my absolute favorites. Sometimes i feel I was born in the wrong decade. Music was real, people were more genuine, and not afraid to be free in who they were and create something new. I get lost in my own world listening to the music of the great soul legends.
Rest In Peace to one of my favorite soul singers of all the time. Highly underrated and for shame, because this man here is a true talent... and Im only 34- my parents exposed me to real music at an early age and he will be forever missed!
When we lost this Brother I feel that we lost "The Last Soul Man". Many younger people have NO IDEA what he was alluding to during his classic monologue/" rap" at the start of this classic. Rest in Peace, Soul Brother, for I know you're up in Heaven with your good friend Sam Cooke...
The Godfather of Feelings and expression! Oooooooooooooooooh yeah ! Makes you want to love everything and everyone ,even the ones you never thought you would, Lol .. Soul Power is incredible!!
going to changes.just lost my husband of 40 years to the big C = cancer.............tk u bobby for bringing back great!!!! memories....if u see my MAN up there, pls say hello to him and tell him I am trying to hold on!
Bobby Womack was truly one of the greatest soul singers that ever graced the music industry! He will be forever remembered and deeply missed! Thanks for great music that soothes the soul!
I'm so glad I found this Bobby Womack cover of "Close to You!" This is an absolutely beautiful & deeply soulful rendition. It stands as its own classic! R.I.P Poet!
@@beats4life971 It is a cover. Bobby Womack was not the original lyricist nor the original singer. I believe this Womack version of the song was done in the mid-1970s, well after The Carpenters made it famous in 1970. Karen Carpenter's crystal clear voice powered this song to the top of the charts. The song was released multiple times by different singers in the 1960s-even before the Carpenters. To me Bobby Womack's interpretation of the song is an instant classic in its own rights. His phrasing; the places he chose to emphasize or soften; he expression of raw deep-love emotions is to me the essence of why he was called "The Poet."
He sung is ass off! This is my favorite song by Mr.Bobby Womack...Crazy vocals!! One of the greatest of all time. A real soul man Thank you for sharing your gift to the world ❤️🖤💚🙏🏾✊🏾
I dedicated this to my daughter. She and I were separated in her high school year she went to live with her father.I was devastated I would play this song and cry cry my eyes out we both made it through and were in a good place today...
Man, the first licks of that guitar in this gem almost brings tears to my eyes. It is so real, soulful, and powerful. I grew up in the Deep South years ago listening to my parents and older relatives playing this genuinely fantastic music. They'd sit around and talk about current world affairs. Their conversations were so DEEP as well as the music. Man, Bobby's music was perfect since he's always been "real, not commercial". Thank God I have those experiences!!!
Break it down, Bobby. 2019.This is grown folk music, sho nuff. The Poet of music. Sweet, loving and truthful. You know some folk cannot handle the truth, well don't listen to this singer of rhythm and blues sung so poetically. RIP. Missing you.
Thank you Sam Cooke for discovering Bobby Womack so that I and many others who appreciate TALENT, and not the manufactured CRAP we are forced to listen to now know what the true meaning of GIFTED means. RIP Mr Womack and Sam Cooke.
