Bobcat T66 500 hour complaints - In this video I go over my complaints about this Bobcat. Overall it's a great machine but I feel they could have done some things differently.
I work at a bobcat dealer and we have nothing but harness issues w the R-series just this year we have done more then I can count on my hands. I also agree with you with the dirt build up I clean a lot of customer machines and 99% if the time there caked in dirt, id recommend investing in a pressure washer its a little messy but it gets the bulk out.
My M-series bobcat T650 gets a lot of crap down in the belly too ... but not that bad. Might be better to just make some sort of perforated plate so that the dirt falls through ...or you can wash it through a bit easier. Love How I Did It channel. It's too bad how Bobcat Corporate didn't want him to make any more videos. An so begins the disposable machines with no resale. ASV or JCB is going to be my next machine. Maybe you could get some used conveyor belt (or old tire) to make some hose shields so that crap doesnt come in by the tracks.
@@jacobsherven4175 c’mon man, just toll this kit into the price of the machine. It’s like my truck w/ the option of skid plates. You know you’re gonna need it, so let’s just set it up that way from the factory.
Don’t forget the power bobtach stem on the end of the pump vibrates and cracks. Pours all the hyro fluid into the undercarriage. Around 250ish to replace and 4 gal of hydraulic fluid to get going again. I’m on the 3rd one.
I cleaned my 2019 kubota svl75 out at around 410 hours and it wasn't nearly as bad, but it still had some dirt. Next time I clean it I'll have to take a look at how everything is routed.
I have a t66 model and have the same issues. I just thought it was my machine always being so caked up under the cab. I dont like it, but it's a great machine for me.
I’ve run machines for years and finally able to buy a new t66 a few years ago. It’s been one problem after another. Now it needs 14k worth of pump and work done at 1500 hrs. I’ll never own another r unit
My Takeuchi TL130 and my Newer TL8 both ended up with a lot of dirt and debris in the undercarriage as well but I like the way their tracks were underneath a fender seem to help a lot Can’t wait to see the videos on the retaining wall
I agree the engineering should be better to seal the inside.. beings that I am a bobcat technician you should try to work on the machine when it’s full of mud and dirt, it’s very hard to do. The main harness shouldn’t be that close to the bottom of the frame. On the M series I don’t recall having issues with harness cause it’s higher up in the frame and away from the debris.
So it’s definitely not the best design however, a lot of CTL’s have the same issue. Bobcat sells a Frame seal Kit that goes around the bottom of the cab where it meets the frame. Definitely helps keep the underside clean. Why they didn’t just incorporate the seals is beyond me but there is a solution available. The R series loaders are great machines. They all have their pros and cons. Track loaders require a ton of maintenance due to the nature of the work environment.
I understand bad design, but these machines are meant to be pressure washed after each use and that mud looks a little old in there. If you upkeep on the washes you won't have a problem. The removable plate speaks volumes on how it's meant to be cleaned, great job on cleaning her up tho
Skid steer, or bobcat's are supposed to be washed after each use, especially the tracks if it's a tracked machine. The removable plate allows for water to exit
@@tsar-bomba2413 you also have a good day. I think I have washed my t740 a couple of times in the last 2 years. the only thing that gets 'cleaned' regularly is the tracks so that I can move it without spilling dirt and rocks on public roads.
The previous models, M series I believe had a much better design. The setup for the hoses going to the drive motors and the sight glass for the hydraulic oil are ridiculous. Amazes me they even approved the design.
Every trac vehicle has the same issue, drive a APC in the military. When you get back to post pull up the floor panels and see how much dirt and debris is there, then clean it out because you will be inspected and it better be clean. Buy a pressure washer, it made my job easier when working on heavy equipment.
I have not yet been able to own a machine with rubber tracks, but what a terrible design. The sides of the frame should be solid with only a passthrough for the hydraulic motors. The hoses and wires sitting in wet dirt is just begging for corrosion. Hoses should have been hard lines instead.
I agree! This is my first track machine so I didn't really know what to look out for before I bought it. I've owned two other Bobcat skid steers and they both were great. Other then this issue it's also a great machine. Time will tell. Thanks for watching
That mud is crazy in that machine. We have a 2013 t650 and we work it hard and it never gets like this.We were thinking about getting a t62 for our rental company but after seeing this i might have second thoughts. I really feel the idiots in the engineering department need to be fired and i mean all of them.Look how designed the mt85 undercarriage people are putting thousands of dollars into a machine that was poorly designed
I had a t190 and put over 2000 hours on it with no issues at all. Bought a T590 and after around 800hrs the pos has had all kinds of issues. Pins wearing prematurely, injectors going bad, drive motors and electrical issues. I will never own another bobcat. The old kubota engines are much better than this newer crap.
Until you have to replace the DPF filter on your CAT. Because CAT in all their wisdom, decided to weld in a steel plate in front of the DPF filter and the engine is behind the filter. So when the filter needs to be replaced, you have to pull the entire engine to get to it. It’s a $10,000 job last I heard. Why CAT decided to do that is beyond me. That’s dummer than the bobcat dirt issue. At least the Bobcat’s issue can be fixed with a seal kit.
That's unacceptable. Hey now that it's clean once it dries spray Honda Silicone Spray all over the hoses, especially into the connectors (it forces water out and waterproofs at the same time), and all over the metal parts where mud was sitting. Next time you go to rinse it out (after each muddy job) it will rinse right out. Then of course spray everything again once it dries. What a stupid design. I guess if you don't live in an area where it ever rains and there is never any mud....🤷♀
In short - you could say its a proto type - buy you need to buy it - knowing this I wouldn't buy it - thats how they sell the next years model, with the improvements - but do they fix all that they knew were going to be issues - in short - just plan stupid
I have a 2006 TL 140 older machine on it for 10 years and I have never seen dirt in my engine housing like that, owned five bobcats in my career never again your design suck. Their motors are no good anymore. There has not been a lot of thought going into a bobcat, Takahachi, and Ghel forget the rest
Any piece of dirt equipment gets dirty. If you don't clean it regularly it just collects. Get off your lazy arzz and clean your dirt moving equipment when it needs.
Bobcat loaders are the biggest piece of shit known to man. Had an early T-250. Was a great machine. Sold it 10 years later and bought a T630. Thought I was doin the right thing. Was nothing but junk. PURE JUNK. Never worked right from day one. Bobcat did nothing to make it right. Traded it in with 500 or so hours. Took a beating on it $$$$. Got a kubota SVL95 Have had ZERO PROBLEMS in 9 years. I own 5 Kubotas. Did I say ZERO problems ?????
Once you own a cat skidsteer you realize how cheaply made bobcats are. Cats are super quite versus the loud pump noises from a bobcat. The engineering of the cats are way better than any bobcat. There's no openings in my cat 289 for dirt to even get into the under belly.
Glad you love it. I would be super pist if my cst let dirt in like that. But There's a reason cat skidsteers are used more by big commercial and road contractors. Longer life and less downtime.
@@SeanKingeryHomes mine is the previous generation, the one in the video is the new junk by Doosan. the T770 is about the best CTL ever made. maybe CATs are popular in your area in the niche you mentioned but I doubt it has anything to do with the quality of the machine more the dealer is already there selling other equipment to the contractor so the pathway is already laid out. CAT is not even in the top 5 for someone that uses a CTL. Bobcat/Kubota/ASV/Case all make better machines, CAT didnt even enter my thoughts for a CTL
Are you high? I ran a 289D3 and that thing had a hydro whine that drove me NUTS! I have a friend that works on Cats and he literally just sent me a video last month of him lifting the cab on one and he dug out over 4 wheelbarrows full of dirt. LOL!
