Some of Boccherini’s cello concertos are popular. But a complete set of all 12 is hard to find.This release has them all with cellist Enrico Bronzi as the soloist. He plays together with the Italian ensemble Accademia i Filarmonici di Verona which he conducts as well.
Some of the musicians in this ensemble also work as principals of the main Italian orchestras like the one of La Scala, others are chamber musicians or teachers.
Boccherini had a great affinity with the cello. Each of the 12 concertos is a musical gem, well-suited for the instrument, delightfully light-hearted. The Italian performers provide a sunny listening experience.
Other information:
- The first complete set of Boccherini’s cello concertos released in a long time.

Wen life became too difficult for music I stopped listening. After a while I could listen to Bach piano and duets. That was enough if not too much. Now 50 years after I began colleting LP's I've rather suddenly discovered Brilliant recordings and other splendid presenttions of Bocherini, Handel, Telamon and others. My life at 85 has unexpectedly blossomed with new joy. The music that once seemed merely charming bursts with life. So much more is there now to listen to. It is a whole new adventure. I jump from one BRilliant Recording to another. Thanks.

A fan of Classical music myself. I can go on and on, but what I really want to say is this. I find the sentiments posted by people of all walks of life so endearing and wonderful. Which proves to me that the music is the common denominator here. It calms us. It heals us. It helps us find our humanity. I wish everyone well in these trying times.

Luigi Boccherini was one of the greatest cellists of all time. The vivacity, the freshness of the melodic invention, justified Haydn’s admiration and ended up earning him great popularity. The beauty of the true masterpieces that are his cello concertos touch us deeply , transmitting us sublime moments of inimitable music that only a genius like Boccherini could have composed. The interpretation of the soloists is magnificent. The orchestra and direction are superb. Thanks for this remarkable recording that gives us unforgettable moments of pleasure.

In terms of composing themes, for me, Boccherini is the supreme master of all time, even exceeding Mozart. We see it here in these concerti, but I know his guitar quintets extremely well. It is theme after theme after theme after theme, never losing interest, so much so there is little time for a recapitulation, yet in one sense the music is so inventive one just thinks, 'Carry on.'

Why? What is even the point? Are you Boccherini’s descendant or something? Are you just trying to piss off the snake that is radical leftism? I love Boccherini’s music as well. He’s actually one of my favourite composers (after Vivaldi of course). Since you’re not speaking European Spanish or Italian right now I think it’d be fairly easy for me to assume that you do not belong to an 18th century Spaniard/Italian family so you don’t really belong to that culture. So what are you proud of? I’m assuming that you’re a white American. If you were his DIRECT traceable descendant then I could understand that but I don’t think you are. So that only really leaves the option that you posted this comment to piss off liberals. I’m not saying this to piss you off or anything I’m just tired of this constant political game that America is playing right now. It’s stupid, and both sides should be ashamed
@RachaelLongLastName
@RachaelLongLastName 3 года назад
Also there are plenty of examples of beautiful art that isn’t European. Ever heard of The Butterfly Lover’s Concerto? It’s one of the greatest concerti of all time! I’d recommend the Gil Shaham recording but classical music isn’t great because it’s European! Classical music is about the unity in 50 people coming together to make something breathtaking!

I have gone through my fair share of lofi music, classical music, tv-static-like white noise, rain sounds, waterfall sounds, and binaural beats, but this video is the only one that I have been able to tune out while it keeps me tuned in, if that makes sense. I forgot it was playing until I saw the RU-vid tab open. I have bipolar, depression, and autism, all of which make my focus non-existent and make me feel super overwhelmed when I try to work. @@Patriciateresat You've been drinking or smoking (or listening to) something toxic if you think so. The music itself, & we, who appreciate it, bely your depressive world view. There will always be political/commercial interests to make us feel guilty about something, no matter what - easier to manipulate us thereby. Studied with actual science, by the way, the planet is doing fine, responding to its orbit around the sun, eruptive radiation & all, traversing its climatic ranges - all at an evolutionary level far beyond human influence. Manipulative humans are indeed a scourge, when passive/depressive compliance by majorities don't stand up to them. Most artists, musicians, writers, et al. do tend to stand up, to outright totalitarian rule - then, alas, sometimes in turn manipulated by the soft dictatorship of "caring" bureaucracies, not so? Just a thought...

Well interesting Noe. Do you put stock in the carnal world. I do not. We can understand the work of evil in the world and know those who worship Satan do evil things. @@Patriciateresat It all depends on which ones you know. I have worked with some of the worst humans alive. But I also know people who give unselfishly of their time and of their belongings to others. Those acts of kindness reassure even the cynical that all are not planet lice.

I wish that I discovered classical music early in my life, but perhaps I wouldn't have appreciated its beauty until I was a little older. It was Stanley Kubrick 's A Clockwork Orange which ignited the initial interest. I have heard Boccherini before. But there are many composers that I have yet to discover or delve more deeply into.

Greg, it was Clockwork Orange that really started for me, but that said I had purchased the soundtrack for 2001 A Space Odyssey in 1968.

This is why I like the classical era because the pieces follow along with the flow of nature like this pieces, which I think best describe the soft morning breeze on bright sunny day.

Yes, there is definitely an idyllic quality to this music. I think that people's lives would improve if music like this (the adagios in particular) was piped into public spaces, especially shopping environments. It says a lot that a bookstore is typically a place where this already happens.

Delightful performances, beautifully played! After 14 concerti, I still have an appetite for more. Brilliant Classics is able to find excellent musicians everywhere. Quite a change from the situation when a few record labels had their "house' ensembles play everything. I just hope that this arrangement is supporting the musicians enough to keep all these gardens blossoming.

Great works, wonderful recording. To me classical music is not music to do anything else but to listen to. I can only feel the benefits of the music when I just sit and listen. Going back to the recording, it is on the Brilliant Classics label, so it is almost a certain bargain for another of their complete sets. To whoever uploaded here, Thanks. Gracias, Merci. Danken.Grazie.

It's the opposite for me. Classical music allows me to think, work, read and be productive. Pop music is so jarring and intrusive, it disables me from doing anything else...

Dear Brilliant Classics I' m just discovering your site. What a delight!!! Once upon a time (probably ten years ago) here in Montreal we had a radio station with 24/7 classical music (my classical one : before mid-nineteenth century music). The station was almost in every room in my house, in my car in my office, everywhere. But unfortunately one day it was sold and it seems that the new owner was not a classical music aficionado. And now you are coming in my iPad, my iPhone my iMac to fill this void. Many many thanks.
