Anyone can learn how to master body language reading and lie detection. After creating viral analysis videos about Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, WIll Smith and other celebrities I got hundreds of messages asking me what the best resources are for quickly and effectively learning body language analysis and lie detection techniques. In this video I recommend my favorites so you can master these skills too!

You have no idea how much we learn from you. I love reading other people's behavior and body language and when I found your youtube channel I was overjoyed. These books you suggested I will share with the Swedish people so that everyone who is passionate about this topic can learn more. I am dyslexic and I was a bit sad that these books were not in audiobook form. But I will recommend these books to others anyway😊

Dune by Frank Herbert was the book that opened the door to reading body language and voice interpretations for me. As a kid, reading Dune, the seemingly magical way Paul's mother, a Bene Gesserit witch, was able to read the minutiae of body/voices. Innately seemed to know basic observations, but...MORE was wanted in living everyday life. Spidey...GREAT channel. THANKS. 😎👍❤🖖

Hi Spidey! I found your channel after the Oscars incident with Will Smith & I’ve been hooked ever since! Thanks for all these awesome resources!

Wow! Such a cool profession! Honestly I think you will gain a lot from “ advanced interviewing techniques” the previous to last one. I think you will need to sort of dial it back a little as your interactions are likely to be much more laid back and casual but I believe the lessons in there on how to conduct any interaction of this nature will really be helpful to you and you can pick and choose the stuff that applies to you. I also highly recommend “get the truth”. Because it’s not so much about spotting deception as much as it is about developing language that encourages people to open up and be honest. I really believe this can give you some incredible tips when dealing with introverted children. To get them to open up and share much more.

Thank you! My takeaway today is a special one: You put the finger directly to a weak point of my personality. I've watched the Behaviour Panel for countless hours. And I noticed a kind of a snobby attitude towards Mark. With all his long speeches and big gestures he is in need of attention, I thought. But you appreciative way of pointing out the strength of his analysis humbled me. I missed that. Thanks a lot!!! So to know my own trigger points can certainly help me to realise, where my perception of something or someone is subjectively coloured.
@skwerl81
@skwerl81 2 года назад
A bit off topic but I wanted to suggest looking into shadow work. It's common that the things we judge in others are the things we have "disowned" in ourselves... perhaps you were shamed as a child for being attention-seeking, so you pushed that part of you away and labeled it as unappealing? Then, as a result you would be triggered by that trait in others as an adult. I don't mean to preach, it's just a topic I'm passionate about 😊... perhaps you could practice allowing yourself to accept attention and take up more space, to bring that part of you back into the light 🌟 (And if this is not your jam, feel free to just disregard lol)

I find Mark very interesting because he has what I describe as a "narrative approach". He speaks in stories - it's very engaging and also gets the point across very well. He also speaks about many of the things I encountered as a therapist, and I wasn't at all surprised when when one day he described his work background and it was similar to my own. A great guy with infinite wisdom and a lot of lessons in neutrality.
@bronfoth
@bronfoth 2 года назад
@@skwerl81 I think this is the sort of thing Mark is often on about. Challenging ourselves to think beyond our assumptions, beyond the perception we enter with. And being prepared to shelve judgement. It's very powerful.

Wow! Great info! It is amazing. My dad was military, a good man & wonderful, loving father. He taught me the great morals, values & manners I have today, but sometimes like other have a tendency to always remember. He also would often say how badly he didn’t like a liar or a thief & I am sure it is why even though he is gone now, I feel the same. What is interesting is I have NEVER been so badly & bold faced lied to my entire life until until after I turned 50 & has consistently continued. I am now 60. Weird, huh? I have been lied to about such insignificant things, things I really don’t even want &/or am even really interested in knowing! I am not perfect or an angel in any stretch of the imagination, but I think I would & sure I have lied when I felt my opinion was unnecessary & just not important enough to hurt someone else’s feelings for no real reason. If someone likes something which I may not, I don’t care. I am just truly happy for them & the fact they do!!! It is not my job to go around voicing my opinion in an attempt to pee on everyone’s parade. I just feel like lying to someone’s face is a huge sign of disrespect & just short of calling another stupid when they are clearly aware & know the exact moment they are being lied to. Especially when it is coming from someone whom you consider to be a good friend. It have a real problem ever seeing them the same & my distrust antennae goes up & stay up. I hate that! Trust is also hugely important to me and the people whom know this about me seem to be the ones whom have lied to me the most. One, although we were raise under the same roof by the same person who always went to every effort to make sure we both were treated evenly & fairly. She lies like a Trojan & so easily justifies taking things which she knows damn well don’t belong to her, but she turns it all around in her head just to justify & make it right to her. For example, she will steal something & make it the owner’s fault for not putting their name on it!!! it Needless to say, right after my parents died, I got breast cancer & she took it as an opportunity to screw me in every way she could. Whatever. It’s fine. I was the one there for them when they were alive & have so many more wonderful memories than any amount of money can buy. I just got to where I couldn’t stand her lying & then her lying even about lying & we no longer speak anymore. I don’t know if my lack of tolerance come from age, but feel I just couldn’t take anymore of it & she causes me to be sooo stressed. Shortly after my breast cancer, I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis & vasculitis & I have never even been sick before except for the common cold or occasional flu. I can’t even stand to hear the sound of her voice anymore & know there is not enough therapy in this world which would every be able to fix this. At 60, why would you even have anything to lie about? Children treat people better!

Love this channel! I hope it's OK to ask a question? I've heard you say a few times that a lopsided expression signals contempt but I've sometimes seen a one sided smile that looks maybe more like discomfort or can also look like trying to look serious when feeling amused, sometimes also looks like concern. I think I do this a lot when I'm consentrating but I'm not feeling contemptous. What do you think of this? Am I reading incorrectly or can a lopsided expression indicate something other than contempt?

I have a question but I don't know if you'll be able to answer: Italians talk a lot through gestures that have a meaning understood by everyone, like the famous 🤌🏼 that we Italians recognize as a "what". My question is: do you think there could be a universal base under those gestures? Because I was watching a clip of JDvsAH's trial when Doctor Spiegel was called to testify and after 20 minutes (more or less) he scratched under his jaw in a way that to us italians mean "I don't care", which could fit his attitude at that moment but I'm sure he didn't do that with any purpose
@TriggerBud

These are called cultural specific emblems. Any gesture specific to a culture that an outsider would not necessarily understand. It’s hard to know what the roots are. They can’t be universal because of they were everyone would do it. It is helpful to know what the culture specific emblems are of anyone you’re observing. Often you might spot it in their baseline.

Question: I’ve been watching the behavior panel since their first video, love them. And I’ve been watching you too, love you , and a language analyst Martin DeCoder. All good. Now I haven’t bought any books. When I watched your video of the 4 people and we had to figure out who was lying I got it wrong. Is analysis always dependent on watching a video over and over? In real life we don’t have this luxury. I’d like to see you do a video on basic things to look for. But I’m talking about in day to day actions, at work, or dating or out with friends. I feel like I have a lot of knowledge about stress indicators, covering your groin, digital flex ion etc, but it’s a soup in my brain that a I can’t break down into simple guidelines. I'd tell her just look at their facial expressions. I may not have any training, my dad was deal but very good at reading lips and people's body language. Ok after hearing about spy the lie, it made me come up with a great video idea for you. Have you ever heard of odd one out? It’s literally about spotting the liar in the group and attempting to get them eliminated. It would be great to see you watch and point out behaviors and determine who you think is the liar and see if your right at the end! I would love that kind of video. :) just an idea :)

I really love your channel 👏. You grabbed my attention through your great observings with the Depp trial. But I cant find a name of you. It always feels strange, when I am talking about your channel and I have to call you the "dude from Behavioral Artists". ☺️

I'm not sure any of us know his real name (I'm fairly new to the channel too, so I'm still learning lol), but I know tons of people call him Spidey. That's what I've started calling him when speaking to others lol. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to set up “steps” for those of us that want to learn about body language, lie detection, etc. I’ve already purchased some of these books from your previous videos but I love knowing what to get next. Thank you again. And I would definitely love and appreciate a part 2 video.

Hello :) Love your content ! Can you do a video on spiritual gurus, namely perhaps Teal Swan and the controversial documentary about her on Hulu and /or Disney + called “the deep end”. She claims to be a psychic/ medium among other things but is being accused of being a pathological liar , cult leader , narcissist and mentally ill- yet she has over a million followers and claims to be a healer.

In addition to your formal training (and readings), do you believe that there is also some intuitive nature to being able to read body language? There are people who are intuitive and have the ability to subconsciously read body language.
@TheBehavioralArts
@TheBehavioralArts 2 года назад
It depends. If by read people you mean have a sense of what they’re experiencing; yes, some people are naturally better at it. If my read people you mean try to gauge how deceptive they’re being; no, intuition can be extremely misleading in that case and studies show that people who use intuition in lie detection do worse.
