Body swap 1957 Chevy BelAir to Art Morrison chassis. Step by step restoration by MetalWorks Classics

We performed a body swap onto an Art Morrison "GT Sport" chassis on this 57 BelAir that had been sitting for many years. We also freshened up some of the Chevy's paint and dropped in a new engine. A full new interior and wheels topped things off.

Finally a 200mph autobahn 57 hardtop conversion. Someone should’ve done 100,000 RHD’s exactly like it for Ireland.

Awesome work! I really like the interior. Can you comment on the brand of front seat frames? Is the interior custom or available in a kit?
@metalworksclassicautoresto9583
They are Lexus seats, we have used them in several builds.

Looking to do this to a 57 2dr BelAir. only thing different is I was a LS3 installed. Curious about the cost on this build if I had you to the swap.

The 4 link arms ends look like they're closer at the axle than they are at the frame. Is that going to cause issues with acceleration and braking or is all of the angle talk blown out of proportion

I think the images actually create a bit of an illusion, we'd be happy to chat over a phone call to clarify and confusion. I do know we've assembled and driven well over a hundred AME chassis with no acceleration for braking issues...so I think it's just an illusion!! Thanks

Great looking 57. Very nice AM CHASSIS. But I have to ask, why was the car painted with the body trim in place? I would think that would create issues down the road. Like lack of paint adhesion where the paint meets the mouldings because it's usually tough to get all the wax out of a tight corner. Or I could be all washed up LOL.

Thanks...the trim was left on as this was basically a quick paint touch up as our customer didn't want to go crazy on paint cost, but adhesion will not be a problem. Thanks for watching!

Is it possible to order that frame minus that rack and pinion steering TRASH! And have original bosses for a REAL STEERING BOX?

So let me get this straight this guy spends all that money on a frame he don't need on AC work right freshens up the body does the paint puts wheels and tires suspension and then when it's all done he puts an off-the-shelf summit racing 350 under the hood with a carburetor ......what?

It is insanely hard to make money on these cars when you buy pre made frames! Car is on the top end $60k at best and that frame is 15- 20k 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅😅 #notmakingmoney

Ironically we see it the opposite way...2 identical builds on a stock chassis vs an AME chassis..and the AME will bring more money...most often enough or more to cover the cost of the frame...and the comparison in how the car performs is no comparison.
