I think you misunderstood the question about training on a heavier bike. If you train on the heavier bike theorically, you'd build slightly better fitness because you'd spend more time on the hills during training. Then riding your race bike you'd have the power to do a similar hill quicker.
Thank you. I used to calculate the weigh performance in term of seconds gained at a given power. Keeping the time constant and variating the power gives a much better relation between weight and equivalent fitness.
Unless you've been training like a professional for at least several years you can't say that you've achieved your actual maximum physiological potential. More like your functional maximum potential.
