When I do body filler work on a rounded area such as the fender area, I take a hax saw blade and use it as. a finishing sweep, from the door to the tail light. Gives me a super finished look. Hax saw blade will give a super finish look as blade will bend to the round shape of body panel. Very little sanding to remove any excess filler.

Just the trick I have needed for a long time.. thinning the glass fiber bondo with the liquid resin. Sometimes I really do need the fiber filler ( we custom build and restore large speaker systems and waveguides) I always struggle with the thick viscosity of it, and 'dragging' of the fibers. I did try regular bondo once as a 'thinner', but it did not help one bit. THANKS for showing this tip. I can see it really makes the fiber filler easy to control and spread thin.

Back in the day they had what was called the mother-in-law seat, which was usually away from the driver compartment. With watching this build and the nostalgia of this build, it would be interesting if Mr. Chad and Jolene created a mother-in-law compartment/seat area where the hood area is with rap around window paneling on the sides of the hood and than place a very large beautiful show case blown motor in the rear. I love the creativity and the process, nothing but respect for the art you create!

Best practices imo. I always use bondoglass first on my repair jobs and rust repairs not only the weld seams to seal them out, but if it's in a lower area I'll skim the whole thing with fiber to waterproof it and seal out rust longer. Typically on modern cars it will eventually rust next to your repair. The fiber will keep it at bay a few years longer.

The knowledge and skills you have accumulated are a tribute to the volume of work you do on a daily basis. You go after a vision every day, and the result is the desire and ability to see your visions become reality. Some talk about trial and error learning. People should think in terms of trial and success. You have developed skills by going after it daily. If you see something that needs to be adjusted you go after it immediately.

@@severinappleton3438 most shops use a wand that they insert in cavities where nothing can be used to add rust protection, but in reality most of this cars are already very rusty in those cavities like rocker panels. You can still use the wand but spray oil based products in their ,just to prolong the rust from creating more damage, its a yearly maintance.but in reality no one has time for that,or forget about it till its to late.
