This was totally his own fault. The police did nothing but their job, with patience and kindness. His parents say he was beaten? He was not mistreated in any way.

I saw an infant baby crying for help in the middle of a busy street freezing or maybe injured or having a possible medical episode definitely in danger of that 18wheeler speeding directly at him on a snowcovered road. I ignored human instinct to just pull him outta the road. In these final moments I like to exercise my patience and waited as the baby turned purple and was flattened by the 18 wheeler truck. I had the time and training and knowledge and tools to save him but I didnt want to mistreat him. all in all a good day no one was mistreated. Any one else hear how fuckin stupid this sounds. His own fault? You are obviously a cop. At least your not completely wrong. you should have stopped talking after the word nothing. The Police Did Nothing.

I don't see how the cops are to blame, he got caught beating his girlfriend, gave a false name, and then ran. He already had warrants out for him. I can understand why the parents are upset, their son died, but he was not a good kid. I'm sorry he's dead, but he shouldn't have run. He should also have told the paramedics he had a medical condition. As for the comments about the female officer not being able to run, etc. I would love to see you put on about 35 pounds of gear, run in the heat and chase after someone, not easy to do. But I didn't see anyone beat him, one of the cops even told him to lean against him if he needed to. The cops didn't give him oxygen because they don't carry oxygen tanks with them.

In your words. LITERALLY EVERYONE WHO IS ARRESTED CANT BREATH properly. That's y your dumb. Also why your a shitty person. And now y your a shitty cop. You think "The totality of the situation" haha your just throwing up bullshit statements people make. There is no situation, they ended. The totality was death stupid. It gets worse and worse till you almost die (in my case) or you do (in other cases). Counseling is a must. It helps you to identify bad relationships and have the self esteem to get out of them quickly or avoid them all together. Without counseling you will continue to be attracted to abusers… and you will attract them as well… regardless LEAVE AND DONT GO BACK

I just had surgery for tachycardia (SVT), so for no reason at all. My heart jumped from a resting rate to 150 up to 215. You really can't breathe or catch your breath. You get very breathy. You get all the affects of running 5+ blocks even though you were just sitting. You get sweaty, clamy, i immediately lay on my right side for better blood flow until the ambulance can get to me. When your hearts going that fast and misfiring at the same time, the rest of your body isn't getting blood flow, which is why you can have a heart attack or stroke duting an 'SVT cardiac event' From what I'm seeing this guy either has previous health issues or he did drugs. This run of his was too much for his body. I haven't been able to exercise in 5 years until i had surgery. Literally, the most basic things would trigger an event. Your hearts a muscle. Muscles have muscle memory. So if your dehydrated and have SVT , the next time you dehydrate your heart remembers ,Ohh yeah. Last time, this is what i did." Its really life changing. It sucks he died. That never makes me happy to see. Wish he wouldn't have run. He's still a person bad decision or not. He still has a family who is mourning his loss.

And...after running a marathon too!!! Agreed, I've never heard a female officer be so kind both in demeanor and her voice is so soothing too. I hope somehow she gets to read these comments because I don't want her to change.. don't let the politics of those around her to change how she runs her show. God bless all 🐾🕊🙏

Yes, I appreciated that too. I’ve never been in an abusive relationship before, thankfully, but my dad was _very physically_ abusive, so I can kind of relate to the feeling of being locked in an unhealthy dynamic with someone you genuinely care about beating you up. I hoped that I’d never do that to a woman I love, and lose control like that no matter how angry I may be. I cannot understand the mind of someone of any sex physically abusing their partner like that. I know it’s almost always a psychologically complex issue, given how difficult it seems to some people find it to completely cut off contact with an abuser, and _never, ever_ go back to them, so straight talk and deep, authentic compassion is probably the most important way to approach the victim. Hope she never gets into a similar relationship again in the future. ☹️

Why do ppl run & do this to themselves?? I freaking hate methamphetamine!! This young man brought every single thing that happened to him on him self. I hate that he lost his life, but the only person his parents have to blame is their son. Unfortunately, criminals have health issues & they should not do this to themselves. As for the female officer, she was a rock star! She deserves an award for how she continued to run despite her lungs being shredded & how wonderfully she spoke to the DV victim! Way to go, ma'am!!

Rarely have I seen an apprehension where the police acted so humanely. I’ve seen runners on meth die before. Don’t know the cycle cell part but I am tired of parents shouting police brutality. The mom said her son was a good boy. She is thinking of him at 8 years old. He had drugs. Hit his girlfriend and couldn’t follow instructions and ran to his death.

I have Sickle Cell myself and I would NEVER put myself in this type of situation! It was so painful to watch him struggle and even more hurtful to watch him beg for help BUT he did it to himself!! Had he told them his medical condition there would be more urgency and concern for what he was experiencing. Because of his actions it looked as if he just exhausted himself from fleeing on foot. They eventually realized that he was really ill and not faking. I feel bad for his family but they can’t be mad at no one but him! I am not a fan of the police hell my cousin was unalived by an off duty deputy during this spike in police shootings against unarmed black men. Julian Dawkins, check his story out. It was all over the news here in the DC area. So I have my bias against the police but They didn’t unalive him. Once they put him in custody and he asked for medical they called. The paramedics realized (eventually) that he was not faking and they proceeded to the hospital. What did any of them do wrong to cause him to no longer be here?

Yea I Have sickle cell disease and I have been through it all with this horrible disease.. One thing you need to make sure of when you do have this disease that can easily become fatal is that you need to stay Hydrated bc you need oxygen and those fluids to help also do not overexert yourself. That you dont stress yourself of put yourself in stressful environments you need support. Also because its a painful disease try not to get dependent on pain killers bc in all actuality it just masks the pain when in a pain crisis you most likely will need help from medical professionals. However if you really need help to relieve pain while under medical attention then try not to continue taking the pain killers past when you need them bc dependence is almost certain when the disease is so painful. I'm taking methadone for my daily sickle cell pain and let me tell you the pain never 100% goes away but it's maintained 60% of the time. Nights are horrible for me. There is no cure to the disease however there are things like bone marrow transplant and stem cell transplant but you have to find a match willing to help and it's a long healing process. I have been on the list for years but im still waiting. God bless ❤

Those were some of the nicest police officers! From beginning to end they did an amazing job! I started reading comments and read the parents were saying the police beat him and tased him. I did not see that. I know the one officer stated she was going to tase him. The reality is when you mix drug, adrenaline, and running that’s a cocktail for disaster. The police did they best they could for him. The first officer on scene did a hell of a job running, keeping her composure and then going back to talk to the victim.

Not even remotely "abused". Its frustrating that people try to sue the police anytime someone dies from complications related to drug use and/or underlying health conditions (brought on by running from the police over some minor charge in this case). Its unfortunate he lost his life but if theres anyone to blame its himself.
