No, actually bowling underarm had virtually disappeared as a means of bowling the ball shortly after the First World War. Before Bodyline bowlers would bowl at the off stump (furthest away from the batter). Bodyline differed in that it was a fast bowler aiming at the leg stump (closest to the batter) which posed more of a physical risk to the batter combined with most of the fielders clustered around the batter on the leg side
