Why didn't ATC say anything or the captain could have gone around.

My God were the passengers lucky. Such a colossal mistake. First instinct…continue with an unstable approach. Second instinct…cover it up by quickly trying to get on the runway. Great pilots these guys!

Not seeing the usual blackened skid marks on the runway while landing should have given him a clue...ya think?

The video says the First Officer had correctly identified the runway earlier, but if you look at the transcript at 7:09 the First Officer says "The runway is located on the right side." That was incorrect.

If the pilot was used to landing on runway 28, all that means was that he was used to landing on the same runway from the opposite direction.

Funny how chill the pilots are about it “It seems we have landed on a taxiway”

Don't they also drive on the wrong side of the road in Japan?!

The cockpit conversation was nuts. No wonder they were confused.

I especially loved the "looks like they're building a new runway..."

Always back up a visual approach with an applicable navigation aide. Start filling out an ASAP report gentlemen when you get to your hotel room! 😮

The COP was oblivious also until they landed. Where was ATC in all this?

The captain was either drunk stoned or both and the first officer didn't have the balls to correct him

More information is needed. At no point is anything mentioned about being "cleared for the approach" Was it an instrument approach or a visual approach? In reality though, even with good visibility, a visual approach should be backed up with some instrument approach, preferably an ILS. This would have clued these two in that they were right of course. Secondly, if you land on a surface with a solid yellow line down the middle, you're gonna have a lot of 'splainin' to do, Lucy. I've been in the business a long time and this was inexcusable and they're very lucky...very, very lucky that they didn't hurt or kill anyone!

So much for having the approach plate and airport diagram out during landing or even quarrying them to get things straight.

That Captain needed to retire and the FO needed CRM training. CRM can be a huge problem in Asian cultures

@@bunglejoy3645 Crew Resource Management. This is how junior First Officers can learn to be assertive and senior Captains learn to actually listen to what they have to say.

Great work on this and your other video presentations MPC Flight, kudos to you. I would like to add that unless you are in that situation as it occurs - that is a lot different than after action report and discussion Always if "possible" call out for a Go around - making excuses serves no one, and these after action videos are in many ways a treasure trove - of should have, could have - but were nots Sadly as often the case the most junior flight officers are paired with very senior pilots, and this often can be a contributing cause for many bad events. I would pair a recent flight officer with a younger flight officer with good evaluations - not all cultures work the same way -and, here we have in this event a Korean crew operating into Japanese airspace speaking in English to ATC.- under less than ideal WX conditions HUD's can be nice but clearly in this case it actually ended up being another contributing factor Great work MPC

Little White bump on top of plane is for passengers WIFE you will see that on a lot of planes not so much for budget Air lines but most mainline carriers have them
