I had the pleasure of visiting the flight deck of a 757 this year. It’s very spacious and I love the tan.

Very nice video. Im a 757/767 capt. Flown them both for over 30 years ( since they were brand new.) It is not difficult to fly a 757 on one flight and then walk across the gate and fly a 767 on the next flight. The systems are a bit different but a pilot who stays competent will have no trouble. I have flown both the full PFD panel and the hybrid glass and I believe the hybrid is much easier and better for a true intrument scan when actually hand flying the jet. The PFD is more of a monitoring the auto pilot display. After flying a 737 for years, my first experience with the 757 was an eye opener given its performance and rock solid stability. The 767 roll authority is amazing and it is my favorite overall. The 757 is a bit easier to land but the 767 isnt bad either. After flying a 757 younger pilots realize what a crappy airplane the 737NGs are. Lol.

Thanks for your insights Capt. I must imagine upgrading from 737 -> 757 was quite a welcome experience. Wider modern quiet cockpit and those bigger engines!

@@pilotjett4711 The things that I vividly remember about my first flights in a 757 were the take off performance and the rock solid stability. In those earlyvdays we did alot of shorter flights (replacing the 727) and at the light weights the airplane was a rocket often climbing over 4 or 5 thousand feet per minute. Same for the 767..often saw over 6000 fpm climb rates.. :)

@@47colton Yeah! With that big wing and sharing the large engines from the 767 family, the 757 definitely has a lot of widebody personality.

I spent nearly 8 years on the 75/76. Loved them both. The pitch control in both was comparable but the 76 was much lighter on the ailerons and I saw a few episodes of lateral PIOs on the 76. I think the 75 has better control harmony. At my airline the 76-200 was called the "dump truck" and it flew like an out of rig tractor in the pattern. The -300 was great and the 300ER was the Cadillac. I miss all of them!

@@gerardmoran9560 I am flying with alot of young copilots and on the 767 I see alot of Lateral PIOs on short final...ive had to explain a few times to them it was self induced, they thought it was turbulence..

Great video....love the 757 for the power and versatility....the airlines that still fly them don't want to give them up even after 30 years because there is nothing that can replace them. Although I have read the new A321neo's are close in performance and range. I am surprised they never upgraded the avionics in the older models, but maybe this is too much of an undertaking. With the older avionics, I am wondering if these planes can fly the modern RNAV procedures?

1:04 That seat is not in the flight position. It is mounted on an L-shaped sliding rail the seat moves inboard and forward from where it is in the picture, your leg wouldn't fit between the seat and the center console and the yoke column would line up with the cutout in the seat between your legs.

Spent many years flying the 75/76 before going to the 777. Some of Boeings best work (in addition to the 74 of course)

If that exhaust waa bad it would not ve white like a cloud. And clouds arent white either. They just look white due to the rainbow spectrum canceling all colors abd that leaves white. When theres low light its gray, as in lots of condensed water vapor.

The seats slide back and out, so you most likely sat in the seat with it back and out. When flying it gets moved in. Just makes it easier to get in and out of the seat

The 757/767 should have never been a common type. Flown both on same day and they are simply too different. The 757 is by far my favorite flying AC (INCLUDING the 787). Great airplane that flys like a fighter.
@thecomedypilot5894
@thecomedypilot5894 Год назад
I think it's great how they're a common type, you can fly the 757 domestically and also fly the 767 internationally. I think it's great how you have the option to do both. From the pilots I've heard from, they love being type-rated on both aircraft and I hope to one day be flying both of them too.

I used to think the same way when I first flew both 757 and 767, but over time, with more experience it was not an issue to fly both types even during the same duty period.I ended up with 14000 on the both types

Does anyone here have a historical reference to why Boeing used a brown flight deck on the 75/76/77 and the later 74s? We are now back to gray for the 787…..
@pilotjett4711
@pilotjett4711 Год назад
Legend has it that color choices are for keeping flight crews calm during stressful situations - Russian manufacturers and McDonnell Douglas chose turquoise green, now Boeing uses grey on 787, each era concluded different colors were best ergonomically, etc.
