I had the unthinkable at my place of work, we cut up planes at the end of their life, and we found human remains at the level of the landing gear of an A340-300

The 757 still has no competition in the cargo industry. There's just no substitute for it. Unless either Boeing or Airbus come up with something, this one might soon become the oldest airplane type in service in Europe and the US.

aint the engine clearance a little excessive? I know the PW2000 is not a small turbofan, but giving it 5 ft of ground clearance seems too generous given the small clearance that the 737s can tolerate

Im guessing the nose jack is for more of stabilization purposes

Tyler J No. The nose jack is required. A tail jack can be used for stabilization, though I’ve done many gear swings with only three jacks.

I noticed that the doors close fast when retracted (maybe cos turbulence could rip them off, so they close fast) but they close slower when gear is extended maybe cos of more maintenance safety with them closing slower (I don't know). lol

Sadly as reliable the 757 is,they're getting long in the tooth in United's fleet. United's first 757s were delivered in 1990 so some of them are already over 25 years old.
