You notice that the KC-46A have no reverse thrust. I'm not sure why they did that. Also all KC-135's with cfm-56 engines have no reverse thrust. You would think they would want the additional braking on short runways...
the USAF decided to select the PW4000 engines without trust reversers , the primary mission is air refuelling , after delivering fuel in mid-air , the plane would be much lighter , so trust reverse is not that important , also KC-46 was intended to use long runways so would be rarely needed , reducing the complexity and the cost as well , a compromise
