They should do like the DMA, and have 10 percent of the year's revenue go to the victims. If that means each victim gets billions in payouts, so be it.
All I want to know is, who is going to jail and for how long. Because if you or I did something fraudulent, and it killed 300+ people...we'd be going to jail.
Of course they will. They even said it in this article. 0:15 Conspiring to defraud the federal government. That is who will receive the $235 million fine.
I mean who’s gonna go to jail? CEO? The engineers? Facility operator? Software designers? Board members? I don’t think it’s possible to point the finger at one individuals. Decisions that lead to implement MCAS was driven by hundreds of teams
So they profited significantly more than they were fined, and no real accountability... Their stock has almost completely recovered too... This is part of what is wrong with the US.
This is wrong on so many levels. The company pleads guilty? Who suffers? Stockholders? Employees? Suppliers? How about putting the executives who made or approved of these decisions in jail and toss the keys. Claw back all their salaries, bonuses, sell their homes, yachts, aircraft, and return that to the company. Fire the rest who were associated with this debacle. There's no other way this is going to stop. Fines do nothing to deter such behavior.
If Boeing pleads guilty why isn’t anyone being arrested for murder, or manslaughter. Just fines? That’s crazy. In other words if you had a company and killed hundreds of people; you can plead guilty and pay a big fine.
@mackenziegray2090 the CEO, along with every other C suite executive, every single person on the board of directors, and probably every major share holder just for good measure.
Should feel even worse bc nothing will happen. A small fine of a few thousand dollars and thats it. No jail time no official investigation. And in a few years itll happen again.
@@sticumupkidhe does have a nice job at a nice company having corrupt leaders in the present does not dimenish the fact that boeing is one of the best employers in the united states or even the world. Show me another company where the ceo can know nothing about aircraft and make almost 40 million a year.
So basically, they made sure everyone got paid except for the families that are suffering. A fee that they can pay on a random Wednesday and possibly write off on taxes. One day, it's not going to matter how much money they have.
I refuse to fly, period. This has been a risk on ALL airlines for 50 plus years. And now, with socialist DEI/LGBTQIA+ indoctrination and unconstitutional laws, no thanks
I stopped two decades ago. They don't care who has to die, as long as they get their money!! They analyze to predict loss!!!! If MONEY outweighs LOSS, THEY GO RIGHT AHEAD ANYWAY!!!! THEY should BE PROSECUTED!!!!!!
Ahh remember a majority of what they call their parts are actually made by the lowest bidder ..subcontractor...making pennies on what they charge dollars
Keep this in mind, doesn't matter what happens to a billionaire in court, they will always live a better life than you. You're struggling with your bills, this guy can disappear and the Federal government will pretend it never happened as they move on to target you and your meager income.
@@misterbean4059 I belive the reason it took 5 years is also part of their strategy. The statute of limitation for civil liability already passed so as soon as the plea was accepted the families then had no other recourse. Not 100% sure but that's what it looks like. Hope I'm wrong so the families can still sue Boeing and the execs and maybe FAA.
It's honestly insane that Boeing can pay a fine and get away with murder. They knowingly covered up information. Someone allowed the information to be covered up and should be held accountable.
This is just simply not enough. We need to hold the PEOPLE MAKING THE CHOICES accountable. Anything less is a disservice. Hopefully those families are granted this objection.
The problem wasn't that MCAS was "faulty software". The problem was that 1) MCAS did exactly what it was designed to do and 2) Boeing management deliberately withheld all knowledge of MCAS's very existence from customers, pilots, and the FAA. MCAS wasn't the ultimate problem. Boeing management killed those people.
That fine is only the cost of 1 plane. 300+ lives gone and CEO still enjoying his life in his million dollar mansion. CEO and board members need to be hold accountable
Why does Biden sniff so many kids? Why did he rub that gentleman's arm in such a unique way? Why did pizza hut not continue to innovate when papa johns and dominoes took a commanding lead in the market? The answers to these questions and more in next week's episode of Dragon Ball Z
A big company can always find another fall guy to make the 'bad' decisions that they demand. Unless they can go for the whole group at the very top, then the company must be forced to pay extremely crippling penalties.... and not to the governments.... they are also a big part of the problem.
Yeah I don’t get that, especially the “boring pleads guilt to criminal charges “; I was under the impression that if a corporate entity made a deal it would be inherently civil in nature since it would amount to only a monetary penalty, and criminal charges had to be levied against those individuals in charge? What’s the point of calling it criminal when there’s no actual criminal justice?
Terrible. Little regard for the victims and even the staff on board. I wouldn't blame anyone for refusing to get on one of their planes, even if they were paid to fly it.
Does it really matter what they charge these companies with when no matter what, the punishment is always money; something in which they have an endless supply? $235 million fine to paid to the government, meanwhile their 2023 profits were $77.8 billion, and 37% of that came from government subsidies. They could literally wipe out an entire city and the consequences wouldn't phase them.
nobody will ever take you anti-corp people seriously if you guys aren't smart enough to understand numbers. Their revenue is 77.8 billion their profit margin for 2023 is actually NEGATIVE 2.24 billion. They are losing money.
They get rid of the engineers who tried to tell the company of the poor Quality control . But so called profits Come before Safety with the Boeing TOP Brass .
Boeing CEO should be in jail for life !!! This clown as well as all the other managers involved should be in jail for life for this horrific crime. Once again.... how did they get away with this?
even though these accidents are commercial related you guys need to remember that boeing is one of the 5 biggest military contractors in the world. The amount of power they have most people can’t grasp
Until CEOs are held accountable, it's much more profitable to pay the fine. They know what they are doing is illegal, but the rewards outweigh the risks. They calculate human lives in terms of profit. It's cheaper to settle than to fix a defect that they know can costs live. I am sure the CEO that resigned got a nice golden parachute. It will happen again and again. Tens of millions of dollars in fines is nothing to them. If they can pay that kind of settlement, just think of the billions in profits that they are making. And, we don't have a choice. If we want to fly, Boeing is our only option. Disgusting humans that knew about this and did nothing.
It's always the families that lost people in these kinds of trajedies that are ignored and neglected and yet to take any real accountability Boeing should be forced to pay hundreds of millions of compensation to the familiies. And that 235 mil fine is a pittance for the lost of life and Boeing's lies to push the idiotic dream liner into operation. I recall Ralph Nader talking about having lost a grandniece on one if those crashes. His analysis if the plane rush to operation seemed spot on as well.
Not after killing 2 wistleblowers. I bet they couldn't make that deal if their information were exposed. 235 million for 737 crashes? That should be in the billions as that's a fraction of their profits.
the corperation plead guilty, not the executives who had the authority and made decisions to conceal vital design and diagnostic information related to safety. the people who made decisions need to be held accountable
they employ great people. John Barnett, among others - whistleblowers trying to make this companies deeds come to light. John was murdered, his gun shot wound was not self-inflicted.
So many mishaps, accidents, for what? No justice for the victims and for their loved ones. This will make anyone angry and their loved ones died in vain. 😢
Pppft. No one is criminally charged and the "fine" is nothing compared to the BILLIONS in profit, going to CEO pay increases and stock buy-backs. Disgusting.
If they aren't going to imprison anybody then the company needs a more comprehensive punishment than a flat fine: Percent of revenue fine, suspension of operations, break it apart. The punishment needs to seriously affect C-suite compensation and stock prices for them to start caring.
It's a shame that now Boeing, a safety first company, is now run by Douglas. Moving from it's HQ in Seattle was a mistake and the merger. If a car breakes down you are on the ground. With a plane it's a diffrent matter.
The government needs to stop being cowards and send these ceos and executives to prison there basically letting these people get away with mass murder for a freaking fine that goes directly in the regulatory agencies pockets does the company even have to compensate all thier victims families they should be ordered to give the family of each person 3 million dollars
How about you charge the white men with the fancy white collar suits at the top commanding positions ? This is basically saying the lost lives were paid for
The Government owns the airlines. The airlines survive on the profits. The aircraft manufacturer is owned by the government. You don't build planes unless the government allows you to. The companies are managed by boards of directors. Those people tend to be politicians, politically connected to the government, which awards huge contracts. The operating capital is given to them by the government. No one builds or buys a fleet of planes with their own money, cash. This is how the military personnel traveled during the Vietnam War, on stand by. If there's room on the plane you flew for free if your order said you had to go here or there. The government compensated them by giving them cheap loans and grants. The 707 was the most utilized plane Boeing ever made and the B 52 was probably the most expensive plane built in the 1950s.
