Big mistake? As aircraft steadily become more and more advanced. The faster designs like the Hornet reach the end of their life. New technologies to incorporate and the latest advances in aerodynamics. The F18, albeit a good workhorse, is from 1978. Considering the Navy is going to be more flexible with these helicopter carriers that VTOL aircraft can work with. It's more viable to cease production. The F-35B and C will pave the way for future carrier based aircraft. My question is, for you is why do you think Donny would save the Hornet? It's in the best interests of the Commander in Chief to see that his Military is well equipped.

Go Trump but I'd rather have more money poured into R&D than keeping an old bird afloat. Especially with advances in other countries and how smart we are.

@@Jo-un6es the F-18 was made in 1978, but this is the F/A-18 Super Hornet and Growler, which were made in 1999 and the growler 2006.
