One distinct possibility........during a deposition a person is sometimes confronted with facts and evidence that directly contradicts and/or disproves the elements of the lawsuit they have filed. In such a scenario, the person may become despondent in realizing their long battle would be lost and the person could face public ridicule = motivation for a an exit.

@@zerocal76 we each have a right to our opinion, of course. what I find amazing is the number of people who jump to a "firm conclusion" in the absence of any credible facts. it's concerning, but not too surprising. the only headlines we see regarding Boeing relate to the recent issues. I have not seen any reports covering the actual safety record of Boeing airplanes. statistically, a person is safer on a Boeing airplane today than at any prior time. but such facts do not get clicks, while conspiracy theories attract thousands of viewers.

Incorrect, of course. Any rational person knows the public has very little evidence he was killed = no possible way to make such a conclusion. Because if they said Boeing killed him, they could be sued for slander unfortunately. And it’s clear that the local authorities there are already covering this up. Not to mention Boeing already killed one person, if I was his family I would be concerned personally and would not want to publicly speak out either for fear of my personal safety. What we need is an independent investigation calling check cell phones check emails somebody higher up had this done and there has to be a record of it somewhere with today’s technology. There is a text, there is a payment somewhere. I don’t think they’d be stupid enough to put in an email but you never now but I would be looking at text messages and payments. People don’t disappear for free. Start with the guy that resigned and work your way down the list. And I’ll tell you, I’ll never set foot on another Boeing aircraft as long as I live.

As mentioned in an earlier comment, Mr. Barnett's mother and brother seemed very guarded in what they said. I think they might perhaps have stated that they did not want to discuss the possibility that it wasn't a suicide. Had they even suggested it, they would have laid themselves open to retaliation on the part of the mighty Boeing, possibly in the form of legal action. And everyone knows that the little person rarely wins against the far greater funding for lawyers that has the corporate world. I think they were wiser not to discuss it and to let the public draw its own conclusion. Which, as this thread shows, many people have. I think they were brave to be interviewed at all in their grief over their loved one's death and my heart goes out to them.

After two 747 Max plains wend down in 2018/2019, and hundreds of people died, the previous CEO stepped down and got $55M as a parting bonus. I wonder how much this one will get. It is no surprise that Boeing wants to cut corners and is not concerned with passengers and crews safety - how else they can pay millions to the CEO, Senior Managers and investors.

Truth will out. Regardless, good luck to this family and their pursuit to help finish what the man started, which was ultimately to save lives. Greed is everywhere. The very few that choose to stand up for the many deserve to be acknowledged and taken seriously. People of principle are becoming less common. Complacency is becoming the norm. If money were not the surrounding subject that ultimately drives people to commit to corporations that only care about their bottom line, things would be different. I give my best to this family, and wish them well on this journey in support. ❤

I worked in aircraft all my life . My last big company to work for before retirement was DeHaviland Aircraft in Toronto ; I worked as an inspector on the Global Express 7000 series aircaft . When the video spoke of metal shavings , it makes me remember what was done at DeHaviland to combat that problem . We had several light weight hand carried rechargeable vacuums . Every second day or so two people would walk through the aircraft from fore to aft vacuuming along the insides of the fuselage and under to get all that foreign material . If Boeing isn't doing this , that clearly indicates a very pronounced "Disciplinary Problem" on the part of the mechanical installation crews .

An alternative answer to such a question could have been for example "Well, you never want to think the worst but the days before person x had been so depressed and talking about not being able to cope, we tried to make sure to check in on person x every day, but this morning..." Obviously though this wasn't the case here, Barnett was apparently motivated and in good spirits

In many cases, Corporate does NOT listen to "the little people" working for them. Corporate has an attitude they know it all and their opinion is the only opinion that matters. Until something major, such as with Boeing happens, things will continue, no changes made. Hopefully, John Burnett's death will make a difference and investigations will take measures to correct faults at Boeing with safety issues. Burnett's death needs to be investigated thoroughly. Many feel this was not a suicide.

The big question is, where is video footage of the hotel parking lot where he supposedly committed suicide? Cameras are everywhere now days, especially where a lot of people gather. It's one of the first things law enforcement check when investigating a death. It seems highly suspicious that no video of the parking lot has been released.
