Hi Ray, all great points and observations. A tool that might be very helpful for your dam project is a set of nibblers. The nibblers will give you nice crisp cuts and little to no deflection of the plastic. Take care, Sean.
Very true Ray, we use reusable stuff as well, we have made mistakes and its a learnjng process for us. Learn stuff new all the time 😊 we appreciate dear friend 😊
Hi Ray, modelling is basically a question of live and learn. During or after each (little) project you always find you could have done things in a different way. And as for tools, it pays to have plenty of it around, for modelling, I sometimes buy the cheapest stuff since you don''t tend to excessively use it but does the trick. It still has to be able to do the job though. Have a great weekend 😄
The goofs are all part of the hobby, “no mistakes and you’re not doing anything”, is my motto. Showing the goofs is great help and educating others- looks great Ray. Thanks for sharing. Use a lighter gray and do a dry brushing over darker gray and see if that doesn’t make it pop.
Great solution to the dam problem Ray! But I think I agree, the gray paint might be a hair too dark. I'm thinking using a sponge to add the lighter gray on top. This would give you some variation like real stone.
Ray the failures are just as helpful to other modelers as the successes. In my company, we actively try to capture “Lessons Learned” and share those to give other project teams a leg up on what to do and what not to. Thank you for sharing these.
GREAT TIP ON THE FILES. Two words Harbor Freight. They have the same file sets that are easily identifiable and can use different types such as diamond for metal and normal steel for plastic. Hf has lots of stuff for model makers. Nice job, good try on making stuff work.
Nice update Ray. I think you are noticing the gap on the dam area because you are standing right up on it. That area looks good with what you have done so far.
Hey, Ray... good to see you! It has to be a level of frustration, but trial and error is what life is about. You'll sort the dam thing out. The computer adventures sound familiar here as we have so many old and newer laptops floating around and trying to decide what to do with them.
Well I'll be damned, Ray, that fix looks good. It's hard to judge the shade of gray, it looks a bit dark but may just be my monitor. I'm starting to realize that using a 10 year old desktop and even older laptop I'm thinking some new equipment maybe should be in my future. But dang, they still work!
With the costs of anything these days we have find other ways to supplement our hobby I may have to get a sign and start working at local Walmart corner😅
