We took our newly built 4X4 on the hardest track we could find, but even with all our mods and the worlds best drivers, there was no way we were getting out of this one...

I used to drive those tracks and similar around Menai 22 years ago. 2000 GU Patrol, 6" lift, Twin ARB airlockers, rockhopper low range transfer case, 36" tyres and a lot or repair bills.

1. Please get a snorkel. The Amaroks air intake is fed from the front grill and can be prone to water ingress. 2. In regards to “off road mode” I found that it would be more effective in these situations to just have the traction control off. That way the it will allow the wheels to spin more. “Off road mode” was only really good on hill descents. 3. I usually like Isaac but his negative “banter” was a bit much. I loved my Amarok however its nice to go back to a vehicle with low range gearbox. (Yes I know the manual Roks have low range) Love the mods to the Amarok though, that BBQ sauce looks good… also the travel mugs and drink bottles are the best!

Those tires are for light off road. You need something that can air down to 10 or less. You might need a double bead-lock. You also want softer tires with bigger treads and treads on the sidewall. I hope that has a full dif lock too. I also hope you have a very low gearing for the rock crawling. Better flex in the suspension would be nice too. A stock Jeep would likely do better than that.

"Where's the diff lock?" That is a very good question, do none of those cars have that? Last I saw an Amarok it definitely had those, albeit electronic, but they were there.

I might have been able to climb it. I’ve got a 2-door Jeep JL, LCG 2.5” lift on 315/70R17 (35”) BFG on specially made gunmetal wheels that tuck the tires in tight under the fenders, with a nice steel front bumper, removed the tire carrier in the back, with an interior adventure rack that carries my 35” spare up high, various lights and accessories. If that can’t make it, my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon might give it a go.

99 Jeep Cherokee, Dana 70 front Dana 80 rear 6 1/2 inch Rubicon express leaf springs in the back Detroit trutrac locker with a 5.38 ring and pinion, In the front, I have a 6 1/2 inch Fox racing lift upgraded to one and a half ton steering with fox stabilizer. Fox shocks in the rear as well. All that wrapped in 40 inch Yokohama geolander mud tires With cruise control, cold AC and street legal that should get you over the hump that you’re looking at

In a little suzuki x90 technical terrain is fun and it's quite capable. But a muddy bog hole that's taken far too many inches of rubber is where the suzuki has to turn around, mud coming in through the doors was a familiar sight

I drove that section of track 10 years ago in a Subaru Outback. It seems to have deteriorated somewhat since then! I've also driven down and back up that rock ledge in a lifted Subaru RX Turbo about 14 years ago. Surprised the track is still open. (Or is it just "open"? like some others nearby?)

I run a rear locker 3inch suspension 2inch body lift 35 inch tyres with a tub chop for clearance f55 low mount turbo with plenty of power to plant the foot and can drive them rock steps all day everyday
