Even if the movie takes one or two liberties with actual events, Rami Malik’s compelling performance absolutely deserved an Oscar in a stunningly moving film. And I think it’s just hilarious that the actor playing Brian May looks more like Brian May (at that age) than Brian May himself! Well done, Lia and Viki.
Freddie Mercury will live forever in our world his music will NEVER die... And Rami Malek played him so well I love his acting from being the best part in one of the Twilight movies to being the legend Freddie Mercury 💙😖🤘🏽
Mike Meyers ironically portrayed the music producer who fought Queen against Bohemian Rhapsody because in Wayne's World, he and Dana Carvey really put that song on the map for many people.
16:50: Funny you thought the song was “U Can’t Touch This”, when it was actually the original song which sampled it, “Super Freak”, which came out in 1981.
5:42 This song has the same effect whenever I hear it. I wonder alot where Queen would have gone if Freddy were still alive. And yeah the music was what made this movie, the story liberties were unnecessary imo
12:34 What says the producer, played by Mike Myers, is so ironic because in Wayne’s World, he cranked up « Bohemian Rhapsody » in his car 😅😅 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VzUU7SRRsGo.html
Absolutely fantastic reaction, ladies. You made me fall in love with this movie all over again. If I may make a suggestion, please watch the Queen medly from the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert performed by the band Extreme. Most bands played a Queen song and a couple of thier own, but Extreme chose to perform a medley of Queen songs, none of thier own, and the crowd response was very much like the response from the Live Aid show. It is well worth the watch.
In reality Freddie himself bearly knew about his AIDS at the time of Live Aid. He told the band much later. He even told about it to Montserrat Caballe while recording Barcelona album before he told to the band mates.
I love this movie so much, rami malek did a job portraying Freddie mercury. My favorite scene is when they are in the studio recording their new song “another one bites the dust”
You guys should try to find the clip of the concert at the end of the movie next to the real thing. They filmed it pretty much screen for scene, second for second. It’s amazing.
I never liked this movie, I already disliked it the first time I saw it. The reason I think it's so bad is because I'm a hardcore Queen fan and have been all my life (play any song from any of their records and I'll instantly know which record it's from). That's why I'm just bothered by all the factual errors, how songs come in the wrong year and similar things that don't match reality (plus it's so obvious that the guy who plays Freddie Mercury doesn't sing a single note himself). A really good biographical drama film, on the other hand, is "La Bamba" about Ritchie Valens.
The Live Aid part was the first thing that was filmed. They all humped into the deep end of the pool with that...and it was FANTASTIC! Rami Malek won the Oscar for Best Actor...so well deserved! The record executive who hated the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" was played by Mike Myers (Austin Powers). It was Myers's movie 'Wayne's World' that charted the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the 1990s due to a very funny scene that Freddie was able to see before the film was released. The film didn't have the rights, so somehow they got into contact with guitarist Brian May, who got it to Freddie, Freddie loved the scene and gave his blessing for the film to use the song. It helped with Queen's resurgence. Brian May earned his doctorate in astrophysics and was knighted by King Charles in the New Years Honours 2023 Roger Taylor was made an OBE by Queen Elizabeth in 2020 and dedicated his honor to the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. John Deacon basically has retired and has been so since Freddie's death. He has made a few appearances but largely stays out of the public eye. When Queen was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (along with other like honors) Freddie was represented by his mother, who the band watches over.
As a Christian, the Holy Bible states that all gays will go to hell for being gay, and it's a blasphemous sin in the eyes of the Lord, because it disrupts and ruins God's image of way of life. As Christians, we have faith that all gays will change their lifestyle for God, and live life with him and others.
2:34: Ladies, *Marc Martel* did Freddie’s vocals when Rami Malek wasn’t lip-synching to a Freddie recording. Martel won the job of lead singer for Queen’s official tribute band, and was chosen by Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor. Here is his audition: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dREKkAk628I.html And here is performing with Queen: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bTV1chNHvD4.html
When they recorded "The Show Must Go On" Freddie's condition was worse, but still he sing and according to the mith, Freddie made it in the first try, whether he made it or not in the first try, Freddie earn his place in Heaven, he will always be remembered as a legend and legends never die
Legends never die xoxo I took my best friend to see this movie back in 2018, the whole experience was like being on the road with them and being at their concerts, I truly wish I saw them in concert. Excellent movie, thank you for the review
Being a Queen fan myself, I didn't really like this movie, except Rami Malek as Freddie was the best thing I got from it. There were just some historical inaccuracies I just didn't like about it, like "We Will Rock You" was a big hit in 1977, not 1980.
Cool fact this movie has a cameo that not many people realise is one, when Freddie is on the phone to Mary during their first tour in America and he eyes a trucker who he is implied to have a one night stand with is actually Adam Lambert who has been touring with Brian and Roger for over a decade
A few irregularities Queen was not broke up prior to Live Aid they were on tour they actually found out about live aid while in Australia. Freddie didn't know about AIDS until 1987n 2 years after live aid. Go react to the real live aid portion of Live Aid it is 20 minutes well worth it watching Freddie.
The movie was great, but pretty factually incorrect. I’m happy the movie made younger people rediscover Queen and Freddie Mercury. Freddie was one in a kind, his REAL vocals rival the movies version….gotta see the real thing.
Good choice. I'm a third generation Queen fan, and I loved this movie so much I even bought the dvd. (And then I had to buy something to play a dvd on.....😊)
I've watched this movie several times & its so spot on. Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello & Lucy Boynton were absoluty amazing. Of course everything cant be word for word and exactly as it was but they do an amazing job and I still say, Hands down its the best movie ever.....Even down to the villainous & most hated Paul Prenter played by Allen Leech. I couldn't stand the guy.
One of my very favorite reactions on this channel. Viki and Lea were the perfect reactors to watch this with. You are such fans of Queen's music! Thank you, Viki & Lia for being so awesome and being vulnerable on screen! 🎹🎸🎤🤍🥰
Hi Lia & Viki, I love your reactions, channel & i'm subscribed. It's great you've seen this biopic of the GOAT band & GOAT lead singer, I enjoyed your reaction to it!! Rami Malek totally deserved his 3 big awards for his portrayal of the legendary Freddie Mercury and the lads playing Roger, Brian & John did fantastic jobs too. I love this movie, but as epic as it is; it unfortunately has a few errors in it... Like, Freddie was friends with Roger and Brian before they started Queen together, Fat Bottomed Girls was from 1978 and not 1974 as seen in the movie. Same with We Will Rock You - it was from 1977 and not 1980. The band NEVER split up at any point, certainly not because of Freddie's solo album, they took a well needed break from eachother on 1983 and it was pre-agreed anyway. And lastly, Freddie found out that he has AIDS a couple of years after Live Aid. Other than that, it's a great telling of Queen's & Freddie's story. There can be only 1 Queen & Freddie.
dont forget even Brian May said that the movie has parts that are Not exacts like real life.... Freddie was a terrible lost but since he didnt take care himself he was asking for it....O was pretty upset when I saw him at the news once....then I knew he will die cause he had that thing....even though he didnt say it....since you like the movie you should now see Highlander from 1986 with Sean Connery really good and fun movie and ALL of the music on it is from Queen....I love almost all the music of them... always playing their discs here at home....great reaction....thank you! take care ❤ 😊 🇨🇱
I think you girls should check out the dirt next it’s another biopic about the band Mötley Crüe. The dirt in my opinion was so much better than Bohemian Rhapsody. I mean I didn’t hate this film but I didn’t like it, it just was not that good because there were certain aspects of it that was not 100% true to the true story about Queen. And the guy who played Freddie Mercury I mean he was OK but I wouldn’t say that his performance was Oscar worthy. And the way they decided to end this movie was shitty they should’ve had the movie end by Freddie going out in a blaze of glory by going in the studio to record the song the show must go on. Which I don’t understand why that song was not featured in this film which is bullshit because that’s one of my favorite Queen songs ever because it has one of Freddy’s best vocal performances ever. I mean he was looking into the face of death performing that song. Because the true story is when he recorded that song he was ill he was sick and his body was failing him but the one thing that was not failing him was his spirit his fighting spirit was stronger than ever. And his band mates was telling him you don’t have to do it Freddy but he said no I’m gonna do it. So he downed a class of vodka and he went and did it while facing his own mortality. And another thing the film did not get right was when Freddie told his bandmates about him getting Aids before live Aid. Because the truth is he told them after live aid. It’s just stupid that they wanted to turn it into a cookie cutter feel good generic bland movie. Instead of making it big and epic and really diving into the reality of the band and Freddie’s life and the reality of AIDS. Instead they decided to turn it into a fucking cookie cutter greatest hits movie. Because all those other things would’ve been way more interesting instead of what the film ended up becoming. I mean this movie is just nothing more but a biopic for the fucking hot topic crowd. And also a film for all the Queen fans who just knows the greatest hits and knows the bare minimum about the true history about the band. And also about Freddie Mercury himself. This movie was just very generic instead of being Rated R and gritty and epic like it originally was gonna be. But Brian May and Roger Taylor out of all people scraped that idea and instead wanted it to be what it became so that everybody can go home feeling better about themselves. Instead of introducing them to the reality of the history of the band, and the man of the hour himself and his life and his debauchery and more of his battle with aids and the dark reality of it. And another thing the movie fucked up was this bullshit about Freddie being conflicted about his sexuality. That’s bullshit he was never conflicted about his sexuality Freddie was a very confident man never conflicted about anything. And also this bullshit about Freddie leaving the band and then going off doing solo projects and then begging the band to take him back to do live aid never happened. All this shit was just made up just to add some drama and dramatic affect because according to the directors telling the truth about what happened is boring to them. I say no the truth would’ve been way more interesting and way much more impactful.
Ugh.... why did you have to pick this movie ? I'm a huge Queen fan, and i was crying like a baby at the end when I saw this in the theater, and now I'm crying all over again.
One of the best movies every made. It holds an extra place in my heart because it was the last movie I saw in a theatre with my wife before she passed away from cancer. If the emotional overload from the movie wasn't enough....... Have to focus on the fact we had a great time when we were there watching.
