Boiling, Spring, lakes September 16 massive flooding
On September 16, 2024, Brunswick County in North Carolina experienced significant flooding, with roads submerged and many vehicles underwater. Residential areas, particularly around 50 Lakes Drive in the Highlands, saw extensive flooding on the first floors of newly built homes, resulting in severe damage. Additionally, Lake Priscilla once again overflowed, leading to catastrophic impacts in the surrounding areas.

I have to say it's easy to say that when it's during a normal storm and in video. However when it's your wife trapped just down the road and first responders can't get to them what do you do? Sit there? No, you drive like you have some since nice and slow. And the lake isn't in bad shape after all is it lol . Looks like we lost the dam again.

He gave a tutorial in how to drive in a flood. Yes, he’s in a vehicle better equipped than most cars to deal with it. Do the math in a car. Stop, turn around, and in a car if necessary, find high ground, wait, and worst case, get your flippers ready. Enjoyed the vid and hearing the accent. My word

Slept like a baby thru most of that. Rain on the roof was great for snoozing but that embedded thunderstorm was an unwelcome alarm clock.

I'm so sorry! I live here in Brunswick County as well. I'm in Sunset Beach, NC. We got lucky here! I'm grateful for being on the third floor of my apartment building! I don't think I have to worry about flooding in my apartment at least. It's so scary to see what's going on here! I think the flooding is worse than it was when hurricane Florence hit. We had to evacuate then n we couldn't get back home for 10 days due to roads flooded!

I moved from Southport to Greensboro a week before this storm hit. I have so many friends who live there, several in Boiling Spring Lakes! They were house bound for days until the lakes, creeks, and wetlands, water began to recede. All of Brunswick County will have a lot of work ahead 😢

I am watching this as I am living in Las Vegas,NV and I am rather jealous of how much rain y'all are getting. And $380,000 for a house with how much land?🤔 Well for $400,000 here in Vegas you could probably get a condo or townhouse (maybe 2 bedrooms) and a garage plus like $200 a month for the HOA fees. And it won't even be new😆. Its places like this that make it worth it to own a boat. You were concerened about hiw high the water level was because its was up to that 🔴 stop sign but I was more concerned about that big a** tree I saw that looked like it was ready to just drop that was just before that stop sign. I saw one guy had a plow attached to the front of his pickup truck and used that to drive through the flood waters that was on his street so he could get hime to check in his dogs, cats and his daughters hamster. Fortunately his house was set on the part of his property that was like 8 inches above the water. And all the pets were fine.
@andrewbussell3224
@andrewbussell3224 14 дней назад
Fortunate and wow so I guess the cost of Las Vegas is pretty expensive. Yeah these houses in this neighborhood are 250,000 to 350,000 the 350,000 or two-story houses

@@andrewbussell3224 it wasnt that bad before they started building things like the City Center,T-Mobile arena(for the hockey team), the Allegiant stadium(for the Raiders), The Sphere, oh and the Linq(ferris wheel), they F-1 race is now gonna be here for the next like 6 years and we can expect for the Oakland A's to be moving here and with them comes a stadium. Every time they decided to add something thats completely unnecessary and that none of the locals want they double their efforts to make sure it happens. When the Sphere opened everyone's utility bills increased my mom normally only had like an $80 a month electric bill and she lives in a mobile home. But now the lowest power bill shes had has been around $130. When the Raiders came the cost of living here practically doubled. 30 year old houses that should have been around $250,000 went up to $550,000. Dude even health insurance for our pets that use to be like $15-$30 a month went up to like $50 a month. Even storage unit facilities have doubled for their units since 2018. I was only paying like $75 a month with coverage(insurance) now without insurance that same unit is costing me $135 a month and its about to increase again😤🤬. Hotel rooms are also not as affordable as they once were. I remember when you could get a room on the strip at like the Bellagio or even Caesers palace for like $50 at the most Sunday-Thursday. Now those same rooms are like $200 a night. And if you're a local it costs more. So unless you have a Players Club card for them casinos and gamble like $150-$200 each time you play...you aren't getting a good deal. Its like the people who design the freeways and city streets here clearly never drive on the freeways or streets because of they did they wouldn't design them the way they do.😆🤨👍

As a “heads up “ you should look in your engine compartment for the location of your air intake. Many cars actually have it located near the bottom of radiator. Those cars will suck in water as shallow as 6 inches and destroy your engine. Don’t think you’ll be okay because someone else is driving through.
