Great video, thank you! Is the liquid qccelerator you spray on the waste better than the bran mixture?
@millyqin
@millyqin 6 месяцев назад
Thank you! I prefer bran because it is easier to know how much I use and easier to handle. Hope this helps you!

maybe try putting on the bottom a few leaves that will prevent pieces to fall through the holes immediately. May I ask how you get the lid down (the one that presses out the air)? the manual says to not use pressure, but i could see that you seem to be pressing it down and i dont know what other way it could be done (have the same)

Putting leaves is a great idea! I pressed down the lid, i don't know if there's any other way. It seems to work well. If you find a good way, please share with me. 🙂

Can i ask what it is you were spraying? I thought you were supposed to put bran after each layer of waste?
@chuang5062
@chuang5062 2 года назад
Hi,the spray is bokashi accelerator.it works in the same way as the bran just in liquid form. I wanted to try it out. That is why I skipped the bran and used the spray. And yes, you should put the bran after each layer of waste.,:)

I have the same problems with the buckets. Nothing is airtight and there is a a foul odor no matter how much Bokashi bran that I use.I am going back to a regular bucket with tight lid.
@millyqin
@millyqin Год назад
Mine is airtight but the juice always smell funky. I still used it for all my plants and they seems fine. So maybe the funky smell does not matter.

Apparently you are not supposed to add anything with oil, and I see you added french fries.. also no food that has molded either. Just a thought, this is what I heard

Yeah, You are right. Later on I only put in fresh fruit peels and such it was still did not meet my expectation. I will give the last try this season and see how it goes.

Great and enlightening video! May I ask you how did you use the lid? My lid is as large as the bucket, so it's very difficult to push it down until the bottom. I saw you pressed the first layers by hand, and you just put the lid when the bucket was almost full. Is it right?
@millyqin
@millyqin 7 месяцев назад
Hi Thank you so much for the compliment! The lid was as large as the bucket for me too in the beginning, but after a while it losens up. Then it is easier to push down. It is the lid that keeps food waste air tight. I have used mine in 5 years now I think, it is very easy to push down now. Good luck with your compost!

@@millyqin thank you so much! I will follow your tips, hopefully the lid will become smaller
