I love your videos and just had my first shave with a DE razor and oh my god, the difference, smoothness, NO IRRITATION AT ALL. thank you so much. i was binging your videos for a week and just decided to use a mild razor (Parker R1) and it was great. For the first time, I had no burning sensation and I want to shave again. Thank you sm geo!
I like the design of the razor. I may invest in one. I really like the look of it and the flat head seems perfect for under the nose. Thanks for the introduction to this Geo.
I have to be honest.... I love watching these videos. They have made me go out and buy some new products (armed with useful information) and enjoy being at the bathroom sink/mirror again. Well done! Does anyone else think he looks a bit like Danny Aiello?
This razor is obviously a copy of the RAPIRA Swedish Supersteel DE safety razor. A few months ago I bought one just for fun as an experiment, and I was highly surprised about how excellent a safety razor for experienced men it was It's just ironic that one can get the best shave with a cheapest razor that looks neither fancy nor perfectly finished. This copy does seem well finished, and I believe it provides a great shave as well..
Hi Geo- Great shave and razor review; thank you! A very nice-looking razor. I hope you have a great weekend ahead. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Geo!
Hey Geo, thanks for all the really helpful and cheerful videos. I have a review suggestion, can you review some of these new one blade razors that are out there now? Such as the Supply razor or the One Blade and see how they compare to the tried and true safety razor? Keep up all the great content, thank you!
Hi Geo, 2 month's ago I started shaving with a DE (parker semi-slant) and used your videos as a guide for better shaving and for product reviews, very useful and informative, thank you for that ! But I have question about this and other video's, I see you skimming the cheeks but not the neck area. When I do 2 passes correctly and the 3 pass skimming my cheeks I can shave BBS now without burn of blood, but I still have some stubble in the neck, so I started skimming the neck are as well and It goes very well, why don't you do it ? Greetings from the Netherlands ( In December/January I am going to order from your shop, I want an indestructibowl:-)
Do you know if that brand of blade comes in two types-or did they just stop putting Teflon Coated on the box? Really into exploring the various coating types...youve turned me into a Shave Nerd, Geo!
Hey Geo, great review! I just found out about something called twinplex stropper. Did you ever try something like this, a safter razer blade stropper? And the main question: can it get a feather blade even sharper? Greetings from Germany!
@@geofatboy Maybe assembled and repackaged in Switzerland (or they mean the Box). Also, how come? Böker is a German company. How does it compare to a Baili BT 131 or other Tech knock offs?
@@geofatboy I wrote to the company after watching this, but it’s possible the person answering emails was mistaken. Here’s the reply I got: “The low profile safety razor is manufactured in Soligen Germany. Thank you, Jennise Wooton BOKER USA, INC.”
Good video. I like this safety razor, overall because it’s low profile. I saw at your website that the safety razor is out of stock. When do you’ll have again in stock?. Thanks.
Hi Geo, just a quick question. I have muhle silvertip badger hair brush for a year now and for a few months it is loosing a lot of hairs at every shave. Do I have one that wasn't made right ? I am not doing something correct ? Assume everything that I can do wrong and maybe I can find the problem. Thank you
Nice shave, Geo. Greetings from Russian subscriber. I have a question for this Böker razor. Have you shaved with Razorock Teck II razor? Both of them look the same. Thanks, Tim.
No they don't. The Teck II is not really a Tech head but an "upgraded" Tech head (see Baili "Upgrade" Head of BD191 and BR176) with enclosed blade tabs. It's much thicker, especially the base plate which is full zamak, while Tech and clones usually have a stamped metal base plate. It resembles a Tech but the head design/geometry is actually quite different.
I bought a Baili razor. The head is exactly the same. Did Baili copy Boker? But Baili was around before the boker low profile. Maybe you can give the Baili a test run ?
I couldn't watch with the volume up much so I was just wondering would this razor be considered on the mild side, more aggressive, or in the middle somewhere?
I've wondered the same. The new packs I purchased does not have Teflon Coated printed. Wondering if these are the same blades as the ones with teflon coated printed.
Anyone use Astra Superior Platinum blades they got within the last year? Amazon reviews say the quality has dropped and they're getting cuts but prior to about 2018 everyone seemed to swear by this brand.
I found that the Astra SS blades are better than the SP. The SS are sharper and smoother and compare to the Gillette Silver Blue but are less expensive.
This REALLY looks like the feather AS-D2 design, those four stops on a flattened head profile with 4 large item grills for waste to vent down the post. Chrome covered cheaper metals though :( the feather is likely superior as it is completely stainless steel in satin finish.
I don't know why blades are marked do not wipe, I always get some kind of shmegma build up on the blade, especially if I use a preshave from proraso. Any thoughts?
I believe it's because the blades are Teflon coated to increase smoothness, until the Teflon wears off. (With or without Teflon, FWIW I like the blades.)
You realize that the Gillette Tech is the most copied razor in the world? There are around half a dozen (at least) Tech clones from China alone. globalshave.club/blog/f/five-great-chinese-razors-that-cost-under-1500 www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/the-tech-clone-wars.574729/
@@edwardmiles6513 The Gillette 7 O'Clock has a plastic handle like the Gillette Super Blue made in China (or a Baili or YingJiLi for that matter). Just because it's a Tech head/knock off neither means it's produced by Gillette nor manufactured in India. www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/the-tech-clone-wars.574729/
There are numerous Gillette Tech knock-offs (Baili BT131, BD176, BD191, Gillette 7 O'Clock DE safety razor, Maggard V3M, Rapira Platinum Lux DE safety razor, RazoRock Teck II, YingJiLi RD206, 8306H, 8306L, Yintal A2002, and other unnamed models -- many made in China), but the Boker *seems* to be of a higher quality, given that the handle is made of brass, though not of the quality of the similar (but pricey) Feather AS-D2. It would be interesting to see a comparison between all the mentioned safety razors (including weight of razor head, handle, their composition and how they shave) to see if one is a better value. I have the Rapira model and it's not comparable in quality to the other ones, but it gives an OK shave.
@@borbetomagus It's not Yintal but Rimei A2002, isn't it? I was really disappointed by the YingJiLi, because it seems to be full stainless steel but it's the mildest Tech clone I came across. I prefer mild razors but I couldn't get a BBS with this one. Are the different model no. just different packaging or are there different YingJiLi Techs? www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/the-tech-clone-wars.574729/
You are pronouncing "Böker" wrong. Those dots on top make to "o" a front-vowel not a back-vowel as you pronounce it. Since my native language is enriched with vowel sounds it is extremely easy to for me to criticize you for mispronouncing "Böker".
