Crap that golden fish looks like a trout, maybe it’s a distant relative living in similar water, but further south… Edit; As a life long salmon and trout fisherman, that IS a long lost salmon/trout relative, aka a “salmonid”, no doubt about it!
Yes they are indeed a game fish, but are not on the menu for the locals/ indigenous people. The Golden Dorado are actually sacred to the locals as these fish help them hunt for smaller fish on the food chain called the Sabalo. The Golden Dorado herd the Sabalo into the shallows where the locals shoot the with a primitive bow and arrow. These Sabalo range for about 12-20”.
@@JonNg415 awesome, I’m debating on this same trip this year. Looks amazing, just trying to get an idea of how many fish to expect. Lotta cash to pony up to only catch a couple fish
