I've made an instrumental cover of one of my favourite Indian songs, 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai', translated as 'I See God in You'. I think the melodica sounds in this Indian/Bollywood genre - the sound has similarities to the Indian harmonium, which is also a reed instrument.

@@pranavgautam96 my economy broke, and I had to work doing other things, and then fortunately I got some students via zoom, and now some restaurants around here took out their tables and put them on the street, so I continue playing. It´s been hard but we have to give our best.

This is so inspirational! I heard about the melodica via a Jon Batiste interview. I used to play the flute and I've been wanting to pick up an instrument again, but I live in an apartment and I don't want to torture my neighbors (it's been a good 30 years since I've played the flute well.) I watched several of your videos to see what the melodica is all about and decided to purchase one, and my melodica just arrived TODAY!!!! (Based on watching your video I got a Yamaha 37 note) I love that I can play it at a reasonable volume and not bother others - haha. I intend to go through your Lessons for Beginners series and my goal is to play Irish...and now Bollywood!....music even just half as great as you do!!! I am so very grateful for you!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Thanks! This is one of my melodica experiments. It uses the reeds and mechanics of the Yamaha P37D, but has a wooden case, and some other mods. I find this one suits the more folky genres, as the sound is more 'fuzzy', like a traditional melodica, rather than the clean, direct sound of the latest instrument I made with accordion style reeds

This is handmade with ebony wood, it uses reeds from a Yamaha Pianica 37, so you can get a similar sound with a Yamaha

It’s a wooden melodica I made, but many of the inner parts are from a Yamaha P37d, so that will give you a similar sound. It won’t look as nice though :-)

Very virtuous! Love every aspect of this Video. This iradicetes all the cliches about the Melodicas. -The player is a Maestro! -The Music created is no less than created by any other so "serious' instrument! -The Instrument itself is not marely machine manufactured metal and Plastic. IAfter reading all the comments, I understand it's based on the Mechanics and reeds of the Yamaha P37c. Could you please shed some light on the body and Keyboard production method, CNC? Hand carving or maybe flexible veneer? Thank you for being there and doing the things you do!

Thanks for your nice feedback! It’s a modified P37d with a hand made ebony case - 4mm sheets of timber glued together, similar to making a wooden box. Keytops are also ebony. Check the video where I show how I made a melodica for mire details…

Just a handful of Indians would be able to play so beautifully! And, such a soothing transition from C to G# and further (vocals going "Tujhme rab dikhta hai"). I can literally listen to this for hours and not get bored. Great great. God bless and much love from India :)

Great! Seeing you playing melodica I too purchased. After using for a while liquid comes out of the Melodica and sometimes the notes do not sound properly due to liquid accusation on them. Please guide how to deal with this. Should I open the Melodica always after playing and clean?

Press the button at the end of the keyboard and blow, this should remove most of the moisture. You can give it a little shake too and do it again

This is one I made using parts from the Yamaha P37D. The reeds are Yamaha, but the case is wooden (ebony). The sound is similar to a plastic P37D, but seems to get warmer with age.
