Great video, it's really important to preserve our industrial heritage for younger generations. Much better seeing these machines in motion rather than looking at a book.

Is that the valve gear set up with the rocking disk in the middle If it is then the blue cylinder is a dashpot it basicly has a big spring inside with a piston either side with a rod going to each red valve bonnet. The purpose of the dashpot is to dampen the rotary corliss valve when it trips and closes to soften the hammer effect the trip is what can be when the mechanism jumps back on one side then the other side. I'll be doing a video soon to show all this in more detail. Regards josh
