Nice comparison video. I tried the 3800 slate in the bomber and felt it struggled quite a bit on the bottom and mid range especially. It also kicked the fan on in mamba x frequently (probably due to high amp draw for under powered motor). I then swapped in a tekin 2300 HD. The tekin has heaps more torque and power in low, mid and high range vs the slate. Geared up to 14-16t pinion on 4s is sweet spot and haven't heard the esc fan kick on once. Transformed the bomber for me. Highly recommend a longer motor.
Awesome display of how the two rigs differ from each other! You pointed out each of their strengths and weaknesses. I like the rift, but , I’d keep reworking the bomber till it can follow a Rift, even if it bombed!🔥💣🗑👊🏼💯🍻
I think the bomber does great, plus i have a bomber, still with the 35t motor with some HR suspension upgrades but still about $550 total price.with price comparison and performance between the 2, ryft cost much more you put a 2100kv motor in it compared to a 3800kv for bomber, plus the all the aluminum parts ads some needed weight,so i dont think this is a good comparison.
now put the stock plastic axles and gear box on the Ryft and do the same comparison...would be a lot fairer, especially on the first 3 obstacles, the Ryft has more low down weight with all the alloy
Some of the best content out here for the Ryfts! I love mine straight out of the box but seeing the mods you’ve done to yours makes me want to tear into it. Was wondering how does the new motor and castle compare to the stock setup? Is it slower or quicker, I definitely notice better low end control! By the way is it possible to get rid of some of the roll back when climbing on the stock setup? Could really use some advice! Thanks ahead of time, loving the content!
Finally got 2 spools for the ryft. Started taking the diffs apart last night and giving them a really good look and in each at least 1 gear's teeth was completely sheared off. Hopefully I'll be able to piece together 1 good diff out of the 3 to use in the front today. Spooling the center and the rear without a sway bar (yet, got a makeshift one coming) might be a bit much but we'll see. For context I've only run the ryft about 6 times and only ever on 3s. Haven't ran it rough enough to break anything, it's just rolled down a 15 foot hill a few times. They really didn't beef it up enough to handle 4s. Yours though? All those vitavon parts 👍
Update: spooling the center and rear actually helped with the torque twist some. So far I'm happy with the results but I havent ran it much yet. Just some quick tests on grass and cement. I just hope that front diff holds up. I don't want to have to lock it as well.
Nice video! Both rigs are really fun, looks like the RYFT has out performed the Bomber here. Oh, I have noticed you have stuck the on/off switch in front of the satnav in front of the co-pilot. Haha.
I am stuck between a used bomber and a used yeti. The bomber has upgraded links, and a castle esc motor combo. It’s $350. The yeti also has a castle esc and motor. It has upgraded links and steering parts. It needs a receiver and transmitter. Yeti is $300. I want a rig that can do a bit of everything. So some crawling and some bashing. I feel like the ifs on the yeti would really hold it back while crawling but I do more high speed stuff then crawling. Tia
@@PorkinsTheWhite agreed, bomber has the west coast buggy look and the pedigree of having a winning racing team. But to make it worthy of its name it needs a bad ass system and some good suspension tuning. I wish i could post a pic of mine. Its sick
@@theSvrh I’m probably getting a bomber. Like you said West Coast look and I’m used to seeing those in California. I’d just mod the Ryft anyways. And I trust the Bomber axles more. Just need some suspension tuning like you said and go brushless.
I’m looking to get one of these. If I’m not going to throw $1000 of metal Vitavon parts at the rig, which is best for me? I’ll still do sway bar, metal links, better servo, etc.
Leave it stock. I have beat the heck out of mine and haven't had any breaks. Except for the diff gears. They're just rough and grindy right out of the box. Once I get all new gears I'm going to shim them properly. I'm wanting to run mine on 5s occasionally.
Great video, the bomber didn't seem to do as well this run than in its first match up. Bomber on USD stickies would make this a really cool match up too. Time to bust out the capra bouncer!
I have bothe the Bomber and the Ryft. I love them both but I find myself always favoring the bomber. The ryft easily has twice as much money into it as the bomber and it doesn't do much more. Both have the copperhead and castle combos. Bomber is 3800kv and the ryft is 1900kv. Both have the baja pro x tires. The only advantage the ryft has is about an inch longer wheelbase. As for the flex, the bomber has the soft swaybar installed and the ryft has no sway bars but they are both fairly even with the ryft getting about 3/4 of an inch more but with sway bar removed the bomber out matches the ryft on flex.
Owning both, definitely agree, after I replaced my 1st of front axle Housing on ryft & I believe I put through it's paises & tuff as it was replaced so things I have destroyed bomber axles. So if luck continues the ryft axles would be a great upgrade for bomber.
@@teamsargentrc6399 if axial actually makes all of the parts to build a complete axle... I have to drive 4 hours away one day this week to get 3 diff gears sets with cups....
@@teamsargentrc6399 I just can’t wait to get one now maybe for my 35th birthday I can treat myself lol. I honestly don’t even know if I want to drive it stock or do these upgrades right away... cause down time sucks. #aintnobodygottimeforthat
That's a Nice Course, however this like comparing my 1/8th Mad Torque MOA to my 1/10th Vaterra Ascender F 100 LOL 😁👉 Just my opinion Joe, still haven't seen anything about the Ryft that makes me wanna spend Five for it ✌️🤠👍 HFLPRCing 👍😎👍 AOAH 🌟 RCF4L 🙏 SSPH
U should take a vacation to Tennessee and do some real rock bouncing and hill killing to test these out! We need more rocks and roots. Love your videos tho
Agree, My passion is Rock Bouncers. This Ryft, awesome as it is, the power curve and wheel speeds appear to limit its ability to move over terrain in a realistic scale rock bouncing way. If scale RB’ing is the goal, perhaps theres such a thing as too much power in addition to the gearing issue. Love this channel,
Time to scuff the slipper pads & tighten up the slipper on the ryft! As far as the pinion gear goes, they're not a mod 1. They r a mod 1.2. (just so everyone has to buy THEIR gears from them). Horizon SHOULD stick to rc planes & heli's!
Yup, RYFT won clean and clear. Gearing and throttle modulation (or lack of) penalized it on the Nasty though...not sure if running on 4S (instead of 3S like the Bomber) had something to do with it. Maybe.
I have 26 acres of Southern Indiana hills with trails everywhere for RC bouncers. Anywhere from mild to 70°+ faces with loose rocks, big rocks, dirt, roots and ruts. We call it "The Proving Grounds" Just a private owned place but we enjoy having people over. Hope to eventually gain enough interest for a hill climb comp. 😈
WHY DONT YOU HAVE A ROCK REY?!? I think the rock Rey would be the most comparable vehicle to the ryft performance wise. Obviously with some mods but I really think those two would hold their own against each other.
