Omara "Bombino" Moctar is a cult figure in desert blues - and is constantly referred to as one of the world's greatest living blues guitarists. The guitarist and singer is currently promoting his seventh album "Sahel," where the musical nomad sings about his home, his children, and the struggles of the Tuareg people.
Bombino has performed at Cosmopolite several times and is a beloved artist of our audience, who continually return to see him.

The album came about when Bombino had to stay home during the pandemic and had the chance to re-connect with his roots.

The Welsh producer David Wrench worked closely with Bombino on the album "Sahel." Wrench describes a working process where the songs were not planned but came about in the studio, stemming from an artist who possesses an enormous vocabulary of songs, stories, playing styles, and memories: "What he does looks so effortless, but it's so complex. The style is refined, entirely unique, and entirely his own. It holds history within it, and it's incredible."
