My husband made me late to one of their concerts when I was 6 months pregnant, and when we got to our seats the girl next to me said: "You just missed Jon, he just flew over (on his harness) next to your seat and sang a song. The look I gave my husband....
Jamel, I think that I speak for many of your viewers when I say, We Love You! The joy and comfort you have brought to all of us during this time. Keep the faith and stay strong!
If it were possible, I would take you back to the day when this song came out, Jamel, and show you how much fun we were having dancing and partying to this song! It.... was.... GLORIOUS! Have a great day!
I can 100% back this up. Teens at the time were losing their minds with this song cranked up to 11 on a daily basis! And here, in 2020, it's considered one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
As a long-time Bon Jovi-fan, "She Don't Know me" is one of the few songs that BJ themselves didn't write. So even though it's a cool song, it's not really fitting for someone getting to know the group. "Bed of Roses", however, is a gem. One of their best songs, in my opinion.
These guys are just as awesome live, I've seen them as a customer and as someone working a venue and they never disappoint. The last concert of theirs I went to they did FIVE encores. They just kept coming back for us. It was also obvious that even after 30+ yrs they still love what they do and the audience could feel it. Love them!!
Saw them live when they were first taking off to the stratosphere. He was so good at working the crowd. They opened for Rat, two weeks later, they weren't an opener anymore.
@Maria Ramirez honestly I'm not sure. Guitar Center stores may have them, but you probably have to order it online because I haven't seen them in stores.
Bon Jovi released "Livin' on a Prayer" as a single on October 31, 1986. The Lost Boys was released on July 31, 1987. So yeah, some stunt tech overlap there most likely.
This was the very first song of theirs I ever heard while on holidays in the US “back in the day” & I was instantly “hooked” 🤘😝. Jamel... This was typical of the 80’s.... BIG hair, BIG outfits & wild ass rock 🤘😜🤘
I was 24 when this came out; it was directly in the CENTER of my wheel house. we had Barracks Anthems while i was in the military, and this is one where everyone in the barracks knew all the words; you could hear us out on the road. great band. great musician. 35 years later he's still performing like it was the 80s, except with a hair cut.
I’ve been a fan of these guys since 1989 & will forever be a fan 🤘😁🤘. I’ve seen them in concert 11 times over the years & it was so worth EVERY dollar I spent ✊️😎👍
My little sister was a huge Bon Jovi fan. I remember helping her study for vocabulary tests by setting the definitions to the tune of Bon Jovi songs. She got really good grades on those tests.
1986. I'm ten years old. My best friend is SO excited as he tells me about this music video that's in black in white until the singer "kicks" (ok it was a knee but TVs weren't that good back then!) and it goes to color and how I have to see it. And he was right. This was a jam.
Holy Flashback! I saw them outside of DC over 30 years ago. What you can't see or hear in this video is the sound of women screaming. Now Bon Jovi can bang. I was on the floor and could barely hear them. OMG, the screaming! It was insane !
That ua-ua- u-u-ua sound is the guitar player Richie Sambora who uses a Talk Box. The guitar signal goes into a tiny speaker that is connected to a tube. The other end of the tube is close to the Mic Richie uses for singing (he is an outstanding singer, by the way, does most of the background and harmony voices). Riche plays guitar with the tube in his mouth while he sings. That makes the guitar sound like it‘s talking. Peter Frampton (do you feel like we do / show me the way) and Joe Walsh use this effect a lot, too.
Bon Jovi is out here still rocking it too. Just last year he released another album named 2020. One of my favorite songs from it is "Brothers in Arms".
Seen Bon Jovi in 86/87 when I was in the Navy. Thank you. Try doing some April Wine- like to rock, Sign of the gypsy queen, and just between you and me. They are a great band from late 70's. Keep up with the great job you do for all of us
My favorite Bon Jovi song!!! Doesn't get any better than this .especially the song's 'introduction'....In the opening bars of "Livin' on a Prayer," when Sambora's guitar almost seems to be saying "a whoa whoa, a whoa whoa," that's actually Richie Sambora shaping his guitar's notes into "whoa" sounds using his mouth.
that opening sound is Richie Sambora using a Vocoder. Peter Frampton used one on Do You Feel (Like I Do) and Joe Perry uses one at the beginning of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion. Its basically an electrified voice box that works in tandem with the guitar.
The sound being made at the beginning of the song is being produced by a talk box. It's an effects unit with a tube that the guitarist puts in his mouth, usually by a microphone, and using the cavity of his mouth, shapes the sound content of the note coming from the guitar, thus in this song, the verbal "whoa, whoa, whoa" riff.
Jon Bon Jovi is one gorgeous and talented man. Richie Sambora too. I've seen them a few times in concert. Just as good in person. Nothing more fun than being in front of the stage and interacting with the band during an 80's concert.😍💗🤘💋
This was released during my senior year of high school. Magical times. I quickly got burned out on this song as it was overplayed. You Give Love a Bad Name was released before this. They went on an incredible run from here. An earlier song of theirs called "Runaway" still hits hard for me.
Jon's dad was a hair dresser and used to cut Jon's hair. His younger brother used to sell some locks of his hair to his high school friends. Cute story
Peter Frampton's Talk Box is called, "The Framptone". So, "The Framptone" is the instrument used in this video. Here is some more info on that: Frampton's talkbox featured in Bon Jovi's number one hit - MPR News Staff - March 13, 2017 3:50 p.m. - Today's Morning Edition music is from "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi which was number one on the Billboard popchart 30 years ago today. The song was recorded using a talkbox - a device that was connected to Richie Sambora's guitar. The sound from the guitar is fed through a plastic tube into Sambora's mouth. By changing the shape of his mouth, Sambora can alter the sound which is then picked up by a regular microphone.
Would love to see a reaction to the Bon Jovi song, Runaway. It is the first Bon Jovi song I recall hearing prior to their album Slippery When Wet which brought the fame. Thanks.
Love rockin and grooving out with ya even when you know the song- keep em coming Jamel- Love our Mr. Video soooo much too- he did Daryls house but..had no clue who Daryl was.. oh my.. still love him tho, for sure- someone requested it I’m sure. But he needs to at least know who Hall & Oats are and hear the originals first in my opinion- ❤️✌️
Seems like yesterday when Slippery When Wet came out. I bought the record for my player in my bedroom, and cassette for my car stereo. I had just put in a Pioneer deck along with some front tweeters, and booming back speakers. Unfortunately no subs. The best part was I was able to put this set into my moms 72 burgundy firebird. After buying the cassette and record, my brand new car stereo was screaming for me to put the tape in. After about 4 hours of driving, continually playing this song, I went home for the night. Next morning woke up, had breakfast, and drove to school an hour early so I could continue my music fest. Oh man, those were the days.
Bon Jovi has had a long career for a reason. Their most recent album, titled 2020, is phenomenal. I need to see people start reacting to the song off the album "American Reckoning", it's one of the most lyrically powerful songs Jon has written.
This is the first song I learned to play on the drums. I'd go into my High School Choir Room on lunch break, crank this up on the stereo system and play along with it. 🔥🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽 On one of the big snare hits right before the chorus, I broke the snare head once. 😳😂
