Thanks, that was one of the most thorough reviews I have seen on a kayak. You told us the good and the bad.

Good thing I watched this before I bought an anchor wizard! I have short legs so my seat position needs to be all the way forward if I intend to motorize it, which I plan to do. Really surprised they didn't catch that.

@jason_ryan_fishing i just motorized mine, and relocated the anchor wizards farther back. No more seat clearance problems. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WsuxSr41Lmg.htmlsi=1Q63hF97_iqASP4n

Upgraded my SS 107 for the RVR 119 last week. Just can’t wait to run the same rapids that they filmed the Bonafide RVR release vid’s on. Coosa River from Jordan Dam down to Wetumpka, AL are a blast and the Spotted Bas fishing there is legit. Something for everyone.

Nice! I'd love to float the coosa river...on my coosa hd. I feel like hanz intentionally chose the coosa river to rub it in the face of jackson kayak. 🤣

Thank you for the review. I am a river guy and currently on my 2nd Jackson Coosa HD which I love. However, I recently purchased a Newport NK-180 and I really like how Bonafide has designed the RVR for motorization. I can make the motor work on the Coosa HD, but it will not be as clean compared to the RVR. How would you compare the two on maneuverability and stability? I would definitely miss the in hull storage of the Coosa HD.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins 9 месяцев назад
I also have a coosa hd. Both are very similar, yet very different. The coosa looks better in my opinion. Here's how they compare. Primary stability: coosa slightly more Secondary stability: RVR much more Stand up stability: RVR allows much wider foot stance Maneuverability while empty: RVR noticeably more agile Maneuverability while carrying 450lbs: coosa noticeably better Seat comfort: coosa is a bit better Deck space: RVR much more open Storage space: coosa has full in-hull storage Rear tankwell: RVR much bigger. Rigability: RVR far superior Loading onto car roof: RVR has 2 keel skid plates, keeping it from tipping while loading. Class 2&3 rapids: both handled them fine, but the RVR won by a lot. I hope this was helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Nice, informative video! I have a Jackson Liska and a 7 year old Jackson Big Rig. Thinking of selling my BR and getting the RVR for my bigger rivers and adding a Torqueedo. I think I'm about the same size as you 6'3" and 240. How was the stability for us bigger guys?
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins Год назад
The RVR sacrifices a small amount of primary stability to achieve its maneuverability, but the secondary stability is excellent. It's maybe a little better than my 2021 jackson coosa hd. In fact, just a few days ago, i stood up in the RVR and raised one foot completely off the yak. The RVR leaned WAY over, but didn't tip. I was so shocked, i intend to video it soon. Where are you located? I'd love to get hands on an OG big rig! Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi friend, you mentioned a window roller. I didn’t know that was a thing, thank you! Btw, what are you using for the roof mount of the car? What brand?
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins Год назад
The roof crossbars are Thule squarebars. The kayak cradle is a Malone Saddle Up Pro. And the window roller is a Bonsing kayak roller. Thank you for watching and commenting!

It looks like the anchor crank mount would benefit greatly if it was angled 30-45 degree’s away from center. Maybe there is a aftermarket mount that is made for it. For the money it should have come that way imo. Still nice kayak cuz.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins Год назад
The RVR is still too new. Not much of anything exists in aftermarket. There are online discussions about making a replacement base plate with a bevelled thickness to angle the crank outward. Reshaping the seat frame would be the cheapest way for Bonafide to fix the issue on future models. But since the anchor wizard was the most advertised gimmick, i would think they would've gotten that right the first time out.
@AnAngryAngler
@AnAngryAngler Год назад
That’s a brilliant idea! Prolly doesn’t even need that much of an angle to clear
@RichFrollini
@RichFrollini 5 месяцев назад
I 3D printed a mount that lifts and tilts the wizard for the front anchor. Better leverage for cranking and no clearance issues with the seat in any position
@jason_ryan_fishing
@jason_ryan_fishing 2 месяца назад
@@RichFrolliniI'd buy one, but for the stern mount though. I plan on mounting my NK controller on the right and not having a bow anchor.
@ryanlundy2519
@ryanlundy2519 9 месяцев назад
Do you think seat risers would help the anchor wizard issue? I know that might reduce stability in rapids, but i rarely see rapids of any concern.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins 9 месяцев назад
Yes, seat risers do solve the anchor wizard issue. As far as reducing stability, that's only going to matter in serious rapids like class 2+ or class 3. But you could just remove the risers during pre trip planning for that kind of fun. I don't have risers yet, but I've seen them. They're very easy to add or remove. Only takes a couple seconds.

I’ve been eyeing this kayak. The rate this thing bails water is incredible. How do you think this would do on the big lakes? I would love a kayak that can do both decently. I currently own a native slayer max and it is definitely not a river kayak by any means however I only use it as a bass boat Lol.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins Год назад
I've had the RVR on 3 big lakes so far. Being whitewater capable, it handles big boat wakes without even trying. (I've literally rode the wakes sideways instead of facing into them) It doesn't require heavy paddle strokes to move thru water, so crossing a lake is not going to murder your shoulders. The only issue is that it doesn't track arrow straight. Specifically because it's designed to turn fast, but the drop skeg does noticeably help. AND...with bow and stern anchors, you can drop both anchors, and the wind can't keep turning you around

I rewatched this video. It is impressive how quickly it bails water. Water in, water gone! I've sat in a puddle all day to go fishing and I have to admit, I'd rather not. It looks like a lounge chair with paddles! Most impressive. Most impressive indeed.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins Год назад
It surprised me. The coosa is a dry floor too, and bails fairly fast, but not as fast as this.

What length paddle? My 250 seems a little short
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins 6 месяцев назад
I have a bending branches classic adjustable length from 255 to 270 so i can change paddle stroke from shallow angle on lakes, to steep angle on fast water. Excellent question! I always forget the paddle.

The aft anchor wizard is supposed to be mounted on the track. At least that is what is shown on Bonafide’s video. I added risers so it wouldn’t matter. Also the risers allow under seat storage and still use rod stagers.
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins 9 месяцев назад
Yes, that was their intention, but i didn't like the way it wobbled when winding in. I'm not motorizing the rvr, so i chose the plate instead. I just keep the seat trimmed to the back. It works fine for me. I routinely run class 2 and 3 rapids in the rvr, so i haven't bothered getting the risers. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Surfing the rapids. Something that fishing boats don't like to do, but the RVR surfed right alongside a whitewater boat no problem

@tylerpound2661 2 месяца назад
How long is your paddle?
@OnlyFins
@OnlyFins 2 месяца назад
@tylerpound2661 i have 2 depending on the situation. For regular fishing, i have a 260-270 bending branches angler classic for a shallow angle paddle stroke to sneak in quiet. For whitewater, i have a 250 aqua bound for a steep angle paddle stroke, giving maximum power and steering.

@@OnlyFins that's pretty damn good! I live near some shallow sandy rivers, apparently there is enough channel for kayaks and sups but I've only ever been on them with a light jetboat and it looks sketchy 😆. Now I'm just waiting for bonafide to get their act together and ship some 119s to Canada!

In my experience, most canoe ppl wouldn't give up their boat for any kayak, and vice versa for kayakers. And there's nothing wrong with that. Enjoy the water on the boat that's right for you. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@OnlyFins Exactly, I stand and fish on rivers, being able to see down in the water at structure and fish is a huge advantage along with being able to skip lures under limbs. I still run a RS117 and love it for what I use it for.
