Absolutely loved diving in Bonaire! Being able to rent a truck and do shore diving on your own schedule is amazing! You've got some great footage here. Check out my videos from Bonaire if you're interested and let me know what you think!
+beatiloogie amazing footage love to dive there one day. Might help me find a new species if I become a merine biologist as I wish to one day. You never know do you. But still love diving here in Cornwall. I recommend Castle beach check out The 5 submarine wrecks, well I think they are submarine wrecks, might need to check that. Have great next dive! and stay safe! 😝😝😉
I remember, last year was my first dive trip. I was SO scared! Then I dived about 2 dives at the spots and thought it was epic! Now, next year, we ate going to Bonaire! Super exited!!!! P.S. My first trip was to Grand Cayman
Visually stunning! The music don't do justice to your amazing images & work. Nonetheless, excellent kick-ass job! I don't want to make my video of scuba diving anymore! Peace!
How far out and how deep were you from Plaza Resort? We spent the day there on our last cruise and I didn't even think to go snorkeling. Looked like some good scuba diving, but didn't know if snorkeling would be as good, next time we go to Bonaire. And great video. Very relaxing when I cast it to the TV, turn off the lights and just watch it on the big screen.
Thanks for watching! The snorkeling on the island is enjoyable but not amazing IMO. Most of this footage was filmed about 1/4 mile (approximately) from shore on the wall where the island drops off... as well as Klein Bonaire. The wall off shore from The Plaza is not bad but I recommend taking a boat to other sites which offers a multitude of diving options. There are other places on the island that offer excellent diving close to shore but my favorite experiences were typically on the wall between 30- 60 feet. It's all good though!
greekatso old reply , I know , but it’s a tactic used by trumpetfish where they hide behind non threatening animals to ambush unsuspecting prey , pretty cool .
There are so many good sights. I think to some degree it comes down to luck and seeing something you've never seen before. That's what makes a dive site special to me. That said, some sites have amazing coral and that never gets old! Munk's Haven, Sampler, Southwest Corner (all at Klein Bonaire), Salt Pier, and Jeff Davis Memorial, were all highlights.
What mil suit did you dawn? Fantastic video great color heading that direction this week for a dive any recommendations for specific drive-company ? Thank you for your time and advance! Cheers 🍻
I don't think you over did it at all, just starting to learn color correction stuff on Final Cut Pro myself.... but seeing yours I think I'm gonna check out that program. Keep the videos coming, really enjoyed them!
Thanks! No lighting... all natural. I tried a filter on 1 or 2 dives but I did not like the results so 90 percent of the shots have no filter. Color correction was done during editing. It is time consuming but gave better results than the filter.
I like the video, but the color correction most of the time is too extreme or too saturated in 4K. For instance a sharptail eel at about 20:45 is not green. It is grey.
+beatiloogie I thought it might be. I stayed there twice years ago. They let it go downhill. But it appears to look better now. Has it been recently remodeled and has the badly needed maintenance been increased?
+sharktoothdiver They were doing some renovations when I was there. They still have some work to do but hopefully they will restore everything to its former glory. I had a great time and the staff were very accommodating.
+Jeff Puha Jeff, I understand your struggle. As an amateur, I don't get to SCUBA enough to justify the expense of paying well over the cost of the camera. Not to mention the fact that the AX-100 will not output a 4K signal to an underwater external monitor (so why pay for a professional feature that you can't use?). After much research, I found Aquavideo. They custom make housings and did a great job. They are still expensive; I paid about the same price that I paid for the camera, but I did not have to pay an extra $1,000 for features I don't need or can't use. Their number is 954-937-6600. You'll need to allow plenty of time (6-8 weeks) for the build. Keep in mind that you will not be able to adjust white balance in the housing. I used the camera's auto setting (with no color correcting filter) which worked well in most cases but you WILL need to color correct in post editing. I obviously didn't always get it right, but I'm still learning, lol! Happy diving!
+beatiloogie Hi. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it. After I wrote the comment I did some more research and found two housings. The Gates housing is $2660 and the Recsea housing is a whopping $3680. :( As you say, it's discouraging to pay twice as much as the camera costs for an underwater housing. I like the Nauticam camera housings, but they don't seem to make one for the AX-100 at this time. Thanks for the information about Aquavideo. That sounds like it may be a good option, though I am concerned about the lack of white balance adjustment and no provision for color correcting filters. I think the Gates and Recsea housings have filter threads on them. I'll have to check. Thanks again.
Thanks! The background music is from Sony royalty-free music. www.sonycreativesoftware.com/productionmusic The tunes you are referencing are Shout It Out, Bull Fighter, and Dark and Nasty.
I did nothing to the lionfish however the dive master, who is part of the local conservation effort did in fact kill the fish. The Lionfish are not indigenous to the area and they have no natural predators. Their prolific propagation is having a negative impact on the local species therefore a strict conservation effort is in place to contain the population.
+bubffm Thanks for the feedback. I'm always looking to improve on my skills. Would you mind providing some of the times where this occurred? There were some clips that, no matter what I did, I could not seem to get the correct WB (perhaps due to the lighting conditions at the moment). I would like to see if the clips you noticed happened to be the same ones I struggled to correct.
+beatiloogie Particularly during shots into the blue your blue looks very violet. And that cuttlefish looks very 'unreal' red. I know its tough to get it balanced well in those intense blue carribean waters. I was diving in Turks and had some issues which I had to fix in post - but that was using a GoPro 4 not an AX100 :-)) When you point to the sand or on coral, the balance is much better. You just may have to take manual WB of Auto is not working well under these conditions.
