A pair of swindlers team with a dance-hall girl (Patricia Medina) to get their hands on Nevada land, including the Ponderosa. Sebastian Cabot and Paul Picerni guest star.
This show always shows the most beautiful women. The guy dancing in the green outfit is expecting a flood in those almost knee-high pantaloons. Bwawawawa!!!!
Well bred Spanish ladies didn't spend time in saloons. Even today I wouldn't want to walk alone into a bar unless I was accompanied by others. We haven't changed that much.
The older lady that shows up to determine who is the heiress just happens to be the Vulcan in charge of the Kuna Kali Fee on Star Trek where Captain Kirk has to fight Spock "To da def" and I do believe that is one of the first times Spock showed emotions after he found out that he didn't kill his captain . Dr. McCoy had a real good time ribbing Spock !! Ha ha ha.
What is it with that "Opening Theme" XD I know its not the Bonanza Theme, but it sounds weird!!! XD XD XD Still, Thanks For Uploading Episodes!!! 8-) ;-) 8-)
the episode is in public domain. the theme song is under copyright and protected by the composer. and he won his case to protect it. If you wrote music, yo'd protect it too.
Sebastian Cabot was such a great actor. I loved him as the Devil, in the 1960 Twilight Zone episode, A Nice Place to Visit. Here, his role is weak, and he shows it. This Bonanza episode is one of the more, well, problematic efforts. It was hard for me to stay watching it... This is where Hollywood confused Mexican (ah, Mexico) and Spanish (ah, Spain). The cantina dance scene was atrocious. The director should have reworked it, or rewrite the scene, yikes. The Spanish accents are equally atrocious, dios compas. This episode conflated Spanish and Mexican rule in what was Alta California. It also was completely off regarding the land grants and the Rancho system. It was a fascinating era, however. Bleh... Oh well... Onward...
What a horrible racist thing to say! For you information that is not a wet back, those were Europeans from Spain! Calling someone a wetback is a derogatory term given to people who strive for the best, want to better their lives, take risks and even face death at the hands of people that think like you!
