Old Western Classic starring Pernell Roberts published in 1964: Bonanza - Episode 171 - The Wild One - Hoss wants a wild stallion for breeding. He's having second thoughts about the partner he chose until he meets his wife.
The Wild One
Director: William Witney
Writer: Jo Pagano
Stars: Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker
Genre: Western
Country: USA
Language: English
Release Date: 4 October 1964 USA
Filming Locations: Stage 17, Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA
Storyline:
"The Wild One" is ornery Lafe Jessup (Aldo Ray), a pugnacious horse wrangler who'd sooner pick a fight than eat or sleep. While trying to pummel Hoss Cartwright, Lafe is interrupted by Prudence (Kathryn Hays), the Quaker wife whom he'd deserted a few months back. Prudence announces that Lafe is about to become a father-but in his typical bullheaded fashion, he wants nothing to do with either his wife or his unborn child. Written on rottentomatoes.com
Reviews:
"Just early days of social engineering, sort of weird, white Nordic male is rough with a black horse and rough with his pregnant wife. Hoss comes to the rescue. It is interesting to observe how the social engineers had their agenda even in the early sixties, exploiting and distorting life 100 years earlier." Written by Thomas001 on IMDb.com

Oh my goodness my belly hurts I'm laughing so hard, the look on Ben's face, and then on Hoss's face when they walked in, is priceless. This is worth watching many, many times over. :And that arrogant scared grown child of a mind man and Hoss, his newborn son, and beautiful wife what they had to go through to push him over the edge, and then Hoss see, sensing what was needed in the final moments, for their love to come full circle, oh what a great ending to a fun rough and tumble story with new horse breeding, a new baby, new friends, and newly sprouted love. Who'd ever imagine that Bonanza could teach, soothe, entertain, and calm the nerves?

I'm binge watching Bonanza in Scottsdale, Arizona. I watched it for the first time when I was 7 in 1962 in Buenos Aires, Argentina dubbed in Spanish. Moved to the USA in 1965 and kept watching. Hadn't watched a show for about 36 years, buy lately I miss the old shows so I started watching them again. It's amazing how much more I get from them after living 66 years, so many good messages. What the hell has happened to humanity, it seems like we have all the tools to do the right thing, but we just don't. Got to do better, all of us. ☮️

Huguette watched as a little girl in France. (the comment before yours) Watched same as you and many others when i was a child. Never even crossed my mind Ben, Adam, Hoss, Little Joe , Hop Sing and everyone else was an "appreciated" one hour show on Sunday night. And i same as you have been blessed with Bonanza once again. Thank you Gringo. Humanity went "off the air" when Bonanza did.

@Karen Deaton I agree. I've just about given up on modern shows. @@mollybrownuptown5849 I believe we should treat everyone as human, but there's nothing wrong with light skinned people making shows that feature mostly light skinned people. And there's nothing wrong with dark folks making shows with mostly dark folks. I'm sure you had good intentions when you said that, but I'm against insisting that people do that because it can take away from a story or make them feel ashamed for not doing it when there's nothing wrong with doing it. All that really matters is human beings playing interesting roles.

...Thirty years ago I was an independent "swinging bachelor" at age 34 with my own apartment - like this grungy man in Bonanza. Then along came a single young woman with small three kids who completely interrupted my freedom - similar to this Bonanza! Thirty years later we are still together with a little house and a stable life. Yes, I wanted my own life like this grungy man in Bonanza. But the Good Lord had a different path for me which I accepted. And things are fine. Thanks for posting this reminder from Bonanza.

Got to watch a few episodes as a kid back in the 90s, along with other good shows. Saw the actor who played Adam in another series and got nostalgic. I'm with some other people who wish that the boys could've had a gal that stuck around, kind of gets old when all the relationships don't last. Even Ben ended up losing his three wives and never seemed to find another. Just sad. Ben's hair reminds me of my paternal grandfather, all silver. Loved it then. This show makes me wish that I was back in my childhood, when my mind was still innocent.

I usually disapprove of the bullheaded and rambunctious woman that's praised nowadays, but, man, they wrote that husband to justify her frustration well. At least he came around. Felt so bad for her. @@jeffcampbell2710 Oh no. I feel and will stick with my opinion. Hoss was truly a gentleman to the ladies. And your opinion of how I feel doesn't matter to me. I think am very right. Regardless of how you feel. And have watched many episodes. I have never been more right. !!!!

Rent-A-Horse...lol Bonanza had business with a ranch that rented the horses specifically for tv and movies.

I was aware for the first time how he really felt about her, when he was outside by the those dead tree branches, looked up and said “Hi , up there, and then went on to ask him not to let her hurt too bad”. Then I knew that he really loved her.

I thought that, because of that scene, and he said he had done a lot of thinking, that in the following scene, he was going to tell her that the three of them would go back to Montana together.

There were so many episodes of Bonanza where religion, the Bible, Christianity, were upheld and portrayed in a highly positive fashion. So unlike today amongst the more "enlightened" crop of shows and "entertainers."

I Love horses, as well all animals, so I was crying about the bad treatment that man was giving him. I know it's faking, because was a film, but in reality there are so many so called humans doing it. God help all creatures.

Good thing she wasn't married to one of the cartwrights because she would be dead or had to run away at the end of the episode
