Is this the strangest theme park on the planet? BonBon-Land is themed after a popular Danish candy known for their bizarre themes. The entire theme park is surrounded with odd looking statues. Many of the rides feature weird (but creative!) themes as well. It made for a very memorable experience, that's for sure!

This park is nostalgic for quite a few of us danes. But BonBon-land hasn't received any investment in years and has become quite run-down by now. It's honestly super sad to see but the wackiness of the park sure makes it a unique experience regardless.

This is just a little tip for anyone wanting to visit Bakken and BonBon land too, but starting in April of 2023, a new train service is actually gonna be launched that'll link Bakken, Tivoli Gardens, and BonBon land every 30 minutes without any transfers. The train will stop at the nearby Holme Olstrup station just a 15 minute walk from the park entrance, and be faster than driving, stopping at Klampenborg station just a 10 minute walk from Bakken (and at the doorstep of Tivoli Gardens at Copenhagen Central station).

It's nearly impossible to miss by train as the station literally has BonBon land on the signs, and when getting off you just follow a path right next to the train tracks and that takes you to the parking lot of BonBon land. Generally all the theme parks in eastern Denmark are all well connected to public transit. Even places like Sommerland Sjælland which is a quirky family park with self operated rides, has its own dedicated train station entirely within the park gates with trains every 30-60 minutes. It's great. Just a shame the ones in the west are a bit harder to reach. Except Fårup. They have both thr line 200 bus and the 971X express bus. And the transit agency there NT actually offers combo tickets which offers you entry to the park, and unlimited transit on the day to reach the park from anywhere in the region.

Have some good news about BonBon land. For one, last year the park made a profit for the first time since Parques Reunidos took over ownership of the park in 2007. But also they're pouring a lot more resources now into maintenance and have spent the off season between 2022 and 2023 to sprouce up the place more, giving a ton of rides and equipment a fresh coat of paint. Like the Dog fart coaster is green now. They've also added a few new playgrounds and reopened the parks dormant candy making workshops. In fact their budget for maintenance and new additions has increased 30%! The new director for the park, Lars Fahlmann is doing wonders for this place. He was appointed director in 2020 after the previous director suffered a sudden death. But Lars understands BonBon land and worked there for 12 years beforehand. He seems to know exactly what to do to be turning the park around while keeping the parks unique... "charm" intact and in well kept order! He has said that they've postponed investment into major new rides for the time being while they give the park some much needed TLC. Definitely the right choice imo, but now that they're actually making a profit, the floodgates are probably opening for a new coaster in a few years! Honestly, just speculation right here, but I think a Gravity group woodie would be a perfect, and realistic fit here. Especially something around the 60ft range like perhaps a clone of Timber at Walibi Rhône-Alpes. TLDR: The parks new management is doing wonders to bring the park back to glory

Unironically I absolutely love how genuinely zany and absurd looking most of the statutes are! They ooze so much personality in their slightly janky sculpts and they seem faithful to mimicking the illustrations on the candy bags! 🤣

As someone who grew up in THE exact city (Holme-Olstrup) where BonBon Land is, i gotta say you pretty much sums it up perfectly. Im 28 Today, and when i was younger, it just feelt sooo much better and fun. Today it seem soo bizare. But as you say its def a wierd experience, and to just to be able to say (Ohh yeah i have been there) is certainly enough for me today xD... Alot of kids still loves it, and honestly thats what matters for the park today.

I visited the place in late October and it definitely felt quite creepy in the thick fog that was around on the day. I did manage to get some discount through the Danish railways (DSB) app and got in for about 26€. I'd say it was worth the money spent.

In my opinion, this is a good kind of weird for an amusement park. A bad kind of weird would be Marineland in Canada with so much emptiness spread throughout.

I live in denmark. BonBon land was more pepular back in the day, they've had some trubble with money the past cupple of years, but I enjoy going there with my friends. But if I had to choose between Bonbon land or any other theme park in Denmark then I would probably choose the other Themepark.

Henry the Dog was the original Mascot of the park because it was the very first type of Candy made by BonBon followed by Seagull droppings.

Yeah BonBon land is weird and wacky, heck it used to have even more statues, like the cow with the boobs used to be on signs and statues everywhere in the park, and the dinghy slide had a huge shrimp on the roof. But yeah I would lie if I said this park wasn't neglected. It's funny, in the early to mid 2000's, this park was way ahead of the game, practically the biggest theme park in Denmark. But in 2006 the owners of the BonBon candy wanted to change paths in life and so the candy brand was sold to Toms and the Park to Parques Reunidos who also own the likes of Kennywood, Bobbejaanland, Parque Warner, Tusenfryd, Lake Compounce and many others. And yeah BonBon land is pretty much their Michigans adventure. And you can tell pretty much off the bat when a ride was from the old ownership and the ones from when the new owners took over. The spinning coaster has lots of theming and was the last ride by the old management, while the Zierer Tivoli was the first one by the new management, which has close to zero theming. The newest notable addition to the park was the Frisbee and that was over a decade ago now! You can tell there's a big plot of land in the back of the park, next to a weird drop tower ride that tilts you forward. That seems to clearly have been for an expansion that has never come. But yeah the parks attendance numbers are also fairly low now, and the park has lost a lot of its reputation. There have been many mentions in newspapers that the park could be at risk of bankruptcy a few years in the future, and there have been many bad headlines like teenagers in the park beating up the mascot costume walk around characters. Just really sad stuff seeing this place fall from grace. As of now the park is more so like a budget theme park for the locals and those from the rest of Zealand who want a cheaper day out than Tivoli or Bakken.

I have a super important question that i really want answered How do you film the "talking to myself from the past videos?" because the way you record it looks hella realistic bc for your new and past selfs things like the haircut or style are the exact same as they would be for your new and past self, things like your skin tan or what not looks the exact same as it would for your past and present it makes no sense so if you can please answer this it would make a lot of things filming wise make sense

The park is over 30 years old, and some of the stuff are closed until the summertimes, I’m from Denmark, but I will say.. the park is too much money for what they have..
