Great review, I have my dad’s Interarms imported, West Germany made Walther PPK/s he bought new in 1973. I carried it for a time as a back up / off-duty gun in the early 90’s. When he passed away, it came back to me. I still have the original box, manual and cleaning rod. This review makes me want to break it out and start carrying it again.

Yep, Ft. Smith, ARKANSAS. Glocks (at least the 43) are made in Georgia (my state), and these Walthers in Arkansas, both in Dixie. LOL.. Walthers and Glocks are my favorite handguns, although I have others (like Rugers) which are very fine too. Sigs, Smiths, Colts, Springfields, etc. all very fine guns. I've decided it comes down to personal preference; there are many excellent ones out there. The PPK is heavy, but it's an icon and an excellent product.

It's so true. I once showed a picture of a PPK to a very innocent young woman who knew nothing about guns. The first word she used to describe the gun was "sexy." So there you have it. It is a very elegant and beautifully sculptured piece. Form and function. I am in Canada and am not able to have a real example because they're prohibited here, even in .380 ACP. The barrel length is too short according to our laws here. The closest I have to a real one is the Umarex BB gun version, which I recommend. The only thing noticeably different is that the grip is longer than the grip on an actual PPK/S to accommodate the CO2 cartridges.

I love the Walther PPK. Such an iconic gun and I'm glad Walther decided to make them again. My grandfather had one in 32 ACP and that was the first firearm I've ever fired. I'm hoping Walther releases one in 9mm in the future. The closes we'll ever get to that is the Walther P5, but you can't find any for under $1,500 nor are they as abundant. Recoil might not make a 9mm PPK as enjoyable to shoot though compared to 380.
@TerriblyTactical
@TerriblyTactical 4 года назад
Can't argue with that!
@glennsammon4465
@glennsammon4465 Год назад
they cant make it in full power 9mm because the slide will have to lock into the barrel and release upon recoil . and the barrel is fixed with the recoil spring wrapped around it so the barrel has no place to go if it had to unlock from the slide. so they are stuck with a pure unlocked blowback system which is not strong enough for full power 9mm x19mm loads.

I'm a serious collector of PPK and it's my favorite model from the all PP series. I carry it with me all the time. Lots of people asks "Why not 9mm in this PPK ?" Because this gun originally designed for .32acp (7.65mm) that shoots best on it's size of the gun. If Walter produced in 9mm (9x19), your shooting hand terribly hurts, bruises and bites... even you shoot this gun in .380acp (9mm kurz/short, 9x17) kicks so hard to hit your hand hurt... but you will get used to it until you built some callus on your lower part of thumb. As a PPK shooter I am, more than tens of thousand rounds, functionally works very well that you can feeling in the range if you use .32acp caliber PPK, PPK/S or PP. Very classic and reliable !!

the fuck are you talking about? this gun in .380 is a pussycat. the reason it will never be done in 9mm is because its a blowback design. the gun would beat itself to death. it has nothing to do with "hurting your hand"

Why would you wish to carry a gun dressed in a bathrobe. What are the risks of being mugged on route from bathroom to dressing / bedroom. Then when dressed you change to a bigger weapon. Are you paranoid or something. Let me guess, some wild animal may be a secret cross dresser trying on your wifes underwear and you may just have to blow its brains out. I know I'm a stiff assed brit but you Americans and gun culture is beyond normal understanding.

@@johnnettleton1240 it is fact that home invasions and burglaries often occur at odd hours, when the home owner is not dressed. Predators who attack young women sometimes watch the residence lights at night, until they are confident their intended victim is in the shower, then they break in and attack. My goal with my guns is the same as with my fire extinguishers and spare tires, to carry it ALWAYS, but never to need it. If everyone would carry, we might achieve that goal. I have an Italian made Bernadelli Model 80 (.380 ACP)...its a Walther PPK clone (for the most part)... It was my dads, he bought it at a pawn shop in the 80s. It's a very good running firearm. It has a mag release at the bottom of the mag well, which is not too convenient...and a bit stiff. It's not a quick reload gun. But I only have one mag for it anyway. Its a fun gun to shoot. Its good as an extra gun to stage for home defense. I occasionally take it as my car gun, as well. They are pretty plentiful on the used gun market. They come in at about an average of $250. You can find them with 2 mags, and original owners manual, etc... pretty easily. I researched mine as best I could, not a lot of info out there though. I believe mine was made in the late 60's. Anyway... if you're looking for a decent Walther clone that wont break the bank... its a good option.

My first pistol was a German made 380 Ppk/s, later retired it and carried an Interarms made in USA stainless Ppk . Custom ambi safety, which should be standard or optional , custom springs DA around 10 lbs, sa 5 lbs. carried it for years. Replaced it a few yrs back for pocket carry with a 13. 5 ounce Colt Mustang Pocketlite. With its locked breech action a dream to shoot and line the Ppk , accurate and dependable. The Walther is a classic but it is being eclipsed by small light 9 mm pistols. If Walther would offer an alloy frame with the weight dropped to around 14 ounces , it would make a nice pocket pistol. As is it is too heavy and will be a collectible pistol. Get one now because it’s’ days are numbered. The prom queen is a grandmother .

I would personally either buy a WW2 era PPK or something made in West Germany after the war. I don't like the finish on this gun whatsoever; the traditional blued steel look is by far the best looking imo. I'm guessing this one is made of stainless steel so they use aluminum blackener on it as it won't react to gun blue properly. Apart from that the old school grips just feel better in the hand, at least as far as I have experienced. (Bakelite feels the best; it cracks easier than plastic but it has that smooth ivory texture to it) Also, the markings on the modern gun would totally ruin it for me. This is a classic German gun and it should have German markings as far as I'm concerned. I could never be happy with a gun bought as a trinket, meant to capitalize on the fame of it's predecessor. It's like buying one of those remake watches with 'James Bond' written on the dial. So fucking tacky... if you want Bonds watch, buy the same model he wore in the movie... and buy the same gun he used in the movies. (of which there were many actually, including the PPK-L, PP and Browning 1910 of all things) Finally, that extended beaver-tail is UUUUGLYYYY! I'm 6'4 and have big hands but I still rather get bit by the hammer while shooting than have to look at that monstrosity. Grasp it lower on the grip, that's what the pinkie extension is there for. :)

Outstanding video, thanks. Since you have your new firearm, all you need is the tuxedo, an Aston Martin and “Pussy Galore” in the passenger seat. On a more serious note, every gun owner in the US owes a serious debt of gratitude to Sam Cummings the founder of Interarms. He imported boatloads of these WWII surplus pistols into the US. He was a true American patriot and a proud Virginian. The Interarms warehouse on Union Street in Alexandria, VA was a fortress of freedom. I bought my war surplus PP at the Potomac Arms/Full Metal Jacket shop next door to Interarms in the 1980s. Sadly, all of that is now ancient history here in Northern Virginia due to oppressive local government gun control policies.
