So I’m a born and raised American and I have to say....It’s SO refreshing to see these lifeguards treat people with respect and understand that not all people come from the same background. I feel like a lot of ignorant American lifeguards would talk down to these people for never having been to an ocean before. But these Australians respect that some people do not know what they are getting themselves into. They welcome newcomers. I’d do anything to see America have the same sentiments. For fuck sake.

Carmelita Fox well it seems like you're going to the wrong beaches. I live here one the east coast and have witnessed many of the lifeguards that act and treat their jobs the same as these guys do.

Seizures are really scary things to witness, so I can’t even imagine what it’s like to go through them. Poor soul.

Same I had to witness them 3 times on my stepdad and it freaked me out because I didn’t know what to do back when Iwas 13. I guess now I’d be more experienced but even then I think I would freak out (which isn’t good I know that)I have mad respect for everyone dealing with them.

In Dutch it's called Nieuwjaarsduik. It's always so cold in the Netherlands on New Years Day so I think it's better to do this on Bondi.

I love how much Chappo cares about people. He's got a big heart, he fills the room with laughter, but once something gets serious, he's there for you.. I have watched 13 seasons (Norway, they don't have the last 2 seasons on the channel) but somehow, I missed this.. Had to go here and see the full episode..

With your first comment I'm assuming your saying that you can swim even though the nearest ocean is 8 hours away. That may be the case but in the ocean (especially in Australia with our strong currents) swimming is different again, you swim differently in the ocean and some of those rip currents are moving at 3m+ per second, an Olympic swimmer moves at about 2m per second. Need to be careful at the beach

Having a diabetic Lo is bad enough AND being an epileptic is rough. Poor guy!! Carry glucose tabs with you at all times. Hope they have them down there because they actually get to the veins the quickest.

I was raised on Long Island. It's a small island sticking out in the Atlantic ocean. The water is cold n the currents are deadly. We all took swimming lessons as children in the bay....n were not out into the ocean until we had all passed lifeguard qualifications. Thx to the red cross for my lessons

I relate so much lol, I can swim but I was self taught cause my family never could afford lessons, watching this makes me want to be a lifeguard or go for a dip in the ocean but then I remember that I haven’t done any of the swimmers classes that are required in my country and I live 6 hours from the ocean lol

I worked as an EEG tech in an epilepsy monitoring unit… seizures are scary bc there’s just nothing to be done until they com back out, you are so helpless and all you can do is keep them safe. Was also a 911 dispatcher and diabetic episodes are so fast it’s so,times terrifying.
