Arrived in January 1954 in Melbourne Station Pier with MV Fairsea (Sitmar Line) as a 12 year old boy with Parents from Germany. Also remember 8 hour Steam Train trip to Bonegilla. Learned to swim in Lake Hume and frequent visits to "Cinderella" Milk Bar. Dad got work in the Latrobe Valley within 3 weeks at Yallourn Briquette- Factory and the rest of our Family got a house in Morwell after 3 months. I have never been back to Germany for a Holiday or catch up with rallies and life has passed me by regretably . Australia is the best place my parents settled in { but not the Latrobe Valley} and I am comfortly settled in retirement in Gladstone Central Queensland.😁
