Bones marketing specialists: Yeah, so these are bigger. And that's stronger and better. And they go faster. And should last longer. Joe: I just wanted blue bearings.
I am running these bearings as well. Not on my park board but my Alva Lost 78. Very smooth. I will do a little video on that board and setup maybe in may. Right now I am just hitting some hills on it.
In my honest opinion, after using both of these bearings along with Bones Original Swiss and Bones Swiss Ceramics. First off, again in my opinion, the Reds just were not fast enough for me. I speed skate and bomb hills. I literally used all the bearings I listed in the same wheels and they were all were lubed and in perfect condition when I began bombing a hill. I also then tried them on flat ground with just a little momentum. Bones Big Balls were definitely faster after doing two runs per bearing type. The Bones Original Swiss beat them all. They beat the crap out of the Reds and were still faster than the Big Balls. I also bought the too pricey Bones Swiss Ceramics. They rode super quiet and think they might have been a little faster than all of them. However, the price difference between the Swiss Original and Swiss Ceramics did not justify the big jump in price or the overall speed for the most part. So, if you are trying to decide which Bones Bearings are the best overall, the Original Swiss still are because of the price. But, if you are a person who cleans their bearings once a week or so in Acetone, go with the Swiss Ceramics. Even the mini logo bearings seemed better than the regular reds. No one is paying or compensating me in any way...just my own opinion after using them all.
Same here lol, since i got back into skating about 5 years ago ive been riding big balls, originally got them cause i really liked the blue, but impressed with the quality and overall smoothness of them.
welp I know absolutely nothing about bearings, but I would definitely buy the blue ones just because I love blue, great vid, loved the part about the pills ! btw I just love watching you land new tricks
Great video Joe, really enjoyed it. You've convinced me I want the big balls now 🤣👍. I'm really happy with the Bones Reds so maybe next time I upgrade I'll get the blues. Well done on landing your new trick 👍🔥🔥🔥. Keep the great videos coming 👌😎.
Thanks mate much appreciated 👍 you can’t go wrong with the reds mate they are solid, but the big balls are like reds on steroids ⚽️ 🏀 🏈 stay awesome bud
Great video Joe, those grind shuv tricks are awesome mate. Interesting to hear your take on the big balls (😂), I’ve looked at them a few times but always end up on reds cos they’re cheaper. May have to give them a go after I inevitably kill my bearings.
Thanks bud really appreciate the comment 👍 been loving the reunion with my trusty box. Definitely give them a try, I had reds before these and was a little sceptical that they could be better but they are ever so slightly noticeably better in terms of performance 😎
Hi mate, I’m in the UK but about 75% of my audience are based in the US... wish I was, the skate scene is 10x better IMO😎 thanks for the comment mate 👍 much appreciated
I've always had issues with bearings. Been through quite a few. I had these when they first came out and I was super excited. They were really great at first. But I had to swap them out in a couple of months, one of them just stopped spinning. Even after cleaning and using speed cream. Maybe it's just my luck...but since then I've changed to Modus titaniums and these have just been amazing. Maybe it's this crazy Canadian weather... The blue is definitely cool tho lol
That’s exactly what happened with my reds, I’ll have to keep an eye on these guys make sure they don’t do that. Gonna check out the modus ones 👍 thanks for the comment Nessa 😁
I found with the Big Balls that if you land something at slow speed you'll come to a stop just like a walmart board or something.🤷♂Dunno, Never been a park with them...
@@joewalkerskateboarding lucky brand bearings they were green came in abec 3 , 5 and 7s , I bought some years ago , they were popular early 2000s , wondering when when got discontinued
gonna have to slap these onto the daily when the 149 mid pros come in. I got 56mms rn with some nothing specials but the abec 9 has me leaning on the wheels/axles too much when i land bs airs. Still big balls and bones swiss do kill me from time to time with hang ups/face plants to the flat bottom from time to time...when you dont land a bs air perfect. The abec 9 nothing specials are so "tight" you feel the bearings touching your axles when theres spacers in....a lil too much...though smooth when riding like the big balls are. Big balls are a lot more better when landing bs airs bc of the design/construction than an abec 9 bearing per ex. But you can land back truck/1 wheel heavy with the nothing specials in transition and feel pretty planted regardless and roll away. You do that with big balls or bones swiss...and land a bs air leaning on your back foot or too front foot heavy....and thats either wheel bite city/flat bottom or a top deck to flat bottom situation potentially....but you carry so much speed in the park/flow. A good hip transfer and you couldnt tell the difference between the big balls and the nothing specials both are epically smooth/fast when doing a proper hip transfer or bs air. Both just differ slightly from responsiveness/pop/trick timing bc of design which is still fun/easy enough to adapt and work around. If you value skating fast/transition flow. Get big balls....they really dont seem/feel fast on flat or when kicking/riding untill you get them well broken in. But in transition/park/flow They really shine. If you have a park/transition thats somewhat hard to skate/maintain speed to hit multiple walls like a shitty park/cutty ditch/pool....the 6 balls are very fast/smooth/forgiving. IMO when riding the quiver and venture 6.1s vs 159 indys.... i find myself leaning a LOT more forward/nose heavy with the big balls and ventures....than the more laid back/back foot oriented ride/pump of the indys. youll often see venture riders riding with their feet on the top bolts if not above and power sliding ventures really slide like a MF....i can ride 101a with indys and 99a with ventures feel about the same when i got bones hard bushings in the ventures....as far as power slide/slideability and slide control. Once i clean and re lube my swiss theyll most likely go back on the daily driver, and the big balls will go on a shaped/pool board. Their feel is suited for a setup like that....the bones swiss with their you better be ready speed/response when landing into banks/qp is better suited on a popsicle or smaller board. Big balls also ride pretty good with 56-60mm+ wheels in my experience a good pairing as well.
@@joewalkerskateboarding Yeah, you want to start rotating them early so that you are well and truly square with the coping at the time of your rock. The rotation back into the transition will be up to you really - depending on how far up the platform your rock is. I found that too quick would leave me not getting the 180 back in.. but then too slow would do the same.. it's a hot mess. Gotta just work on the timing.
"Get some of this" ?? Umm it would help all of us who can't read a tiny bottle flashed at the screen for seconds to tell us what you're holding ... come on bro.
