The 1963 festival sold 8,000 advance tickets but rowdiness and a lack of sufficient security led to a backlash from Orillia townsfolk. The festival subsequently moved around but was finally invited back in 2000, where it still flourishes. This recording was made front of stage by Jerry Prociw (1934-87), an accomplished Ukrainian-Canadian graphic artist, tenor, folk dancer and gymnast, and only came to light when discovered by his family some 60 years later.
