Poignant that these two highly talented girls had unknowingly missed three buses. By the mid-1950s tap was on its way out, rock music was about to oust the jazz-swing that better suited movie dancing, and the Hollywood musical was becoming a casualty of the resultant splintering of audiences. Disney's early embrace of TV contributed to that, btw. Had the young ladies been born 20 years earlier, they might have enjoyed stellar careers in the Golden Age.
It don't get any better or sweeter than this.This is real talent!!! I was 2 years old when this aired, but I remember these in re-runs later in the 60's. Loved the Hardy Boys in the "Applegate Treasure" too.
Bonnie Fields is the one on the left. Believe it or not, it was this Talent Round Up performance that led to her becoming a regular mouseketeer. And she was the only Talent Round Up winner to ever become a mouseketeer.
@@mickeymouseclubchannel9733 This was from the third season. Bonnie was a Mouseketeer already. Maxine Grossman, her partner here, was the Talent Roundup Winner. Sometimes a Mouseketeer would perform with the winner. Bobby Burgess danced with his partner at the time, Barbara Boylan, on TRD in the first season, I believe.
I was 5 in 1955. It only goes to point out that even in 1955 the California children were into song and dance in order to make it in Hollywood. My have times changed.
