Ariana Grande has a sweet voice. But it is not really an Elphaba voice. Search on Google for Eden Espinosa or Shoshana Bean or frankly anyone who has actually played the part of Elphaba. But frankly this is the best version of this song you'll ever hear, and you found it first!
Simply great, well trained and perfectly executed vocals. Riffs were great, but some of the lower notes held an intensity not normally given. Well done.
Wait....what jus happened?! I had to rewatch....It was brilliant everyone seemed to be totally into it, And Bonnie...DAMN that's how you belt (and add humor too)
Fantastic voice! But all of you saying she needs to be cast seem to be deliberately avoiding the weight issue. Why? Too politically incorrect? Have you fallen victim to the false narrative that it’s ok to be obese? We shamed people into wearing seatbelts. We shamed them into not smoking. Obesity kills more than anything else in this country now, yet we’re afraid to talk about it. You won’t save lives for fear of hurting peoples feelings
Who cares if she’s heavier? Nowhere in Wicked does it state that Elphaba has to be thin or even reference her size because that’s not relevant to the story. The casting call says they want a “sharp actor with a thrilling, powerhouse, contemporary high-belt singing voice, a leading lady capable of carrying a big show.” Bonnie definitely fits that description and would make a wonderful Elphaba!!
Samantha Camire has nothing to do with what the role is and everything to do with the multitude of health issues that come with being overweight. Obesity is the NUMBER ONE cause of preventable death in the United States. The “Big is Beautiful” narratives that are being put out there are dangerous to public health.
It’s important to not shame people for their bodies though. I agree that we should work to get obesity levels much lower, but why is that even relevant in this video? The video is about a wonderful actress and her fabulous singing.
As if Elphaba is some sort of top model. I think the only issue here is that she has a light nice voice. Elphaba needs some dark and sorrow in her voice. The same reason why Jessica Vosk Elphaba never impressed me.
